Dear Leonard,
My grandfather Jacob Jablonski ALSO came from Poland to escape being drafted -- into the Russian army, we were told. AND he was tall -- 6'6". AND he was young when he came over -- 17 years old from what I remember. Do you have any more info? We believe Jacob arrived in Baltimore, then took trains to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His first job was at a tannery. He became a self-taught engineer, working for Allis-Chalmers, and traveled throughout the USA helping A-C install hydroelectric dams, including Hoover Dam.
