I am hoping to connect with anyone that shares the KOHUT surname from Zmijowiska and the surrounding areas.

My Great Grandfather, ANDRZEJ (Andrew) KOHUT was born in 1889. His immigration record lists his last place of residence as Zmijowiska, but I am not sure if this was his birth location. According to his marriage and immigration records, his parents were BASILIUS KOHUT and MARYA KIRTAS. I believe, however, that the surname Kirtas was written incorrectly as it doesn't seem to be a typical last name from that area. Perhaps someone may have some insight on a similar name traditonal to the area.

Andrzej (Andrew) Kohut immigrated to the United States in 1910 and settled in the Central Falls/ Pawtucket, Rhode Island area. I do not know if he had any siblings or if any settled in Rhode Island as well. His immigration manifest is the only one that entered the U.S. that mentions Zmijowiska. I'd be curious to know the names of neighboring villages one from that area may have come from and listed as a place of origin.

I am aware that it is a long shot with so little information. If anyone recognizes the names of Basilius and Marya Kohut, and also Andrzej Kohut, from the region, or perhaps has knowledge on any Kohut families, I would be very happy to connect.
