Peggy,
My great-grandfather came to Minnesota in 1881. His name was Philipp Motzko (Moczko)b:27 Apr 1852. He married Mary Fitzeik (Fitzeich or Feitzek or Fetzik). She was German.
Their first child (Catherine) was born in Groschovitz, Germany.
The only link to Opole is from Philipp's father, Adalbert B:21 Apr 1811 in Wroblin and HIS father Johann b: abt 1783 in Opole.
Other than the birth certificate of the child (Catherine) I have no evidence of him or his family actually born in Poland. I also cannot get any further back than Johann.
Can you help? Or email me at 1gpg2@cableone.net. Thanks!
