My great-grandfather was MAHN, Franz who was born January 30, 1843 at Kohlsdorf, Neustadt, Oppeln, Silesia which is now Kolnowice, Poland. He was in Prussian Army from October, 1865 thru October, 1868. He belonged to the Roman Catholic Church. He immigrated to Calmar,Iowa,USA in December, 1868. His two brother and sister also came to that area. MAHN, Josef came in December, 1869 and MAHN, Edward and MAHN, Helen came in May 1870. Their parents names were: MAHN, Heronimus and RINKE, Teresia. I am still trying to find out some facts about the area in Upper Silesia and if there are any records from the Catholic Church in the area such as baptisms or death certificate for their parents. I don't know to where to begin to get these items. Any help would be appreciated.
