My p. g-grandmother, Marianna Jelen was born (I believe) in Janiszowa, Poland ~1868. I've found two Janiszowa's relatively close, one just due west of Opole Lubelskie. The second is also close by (just south of there). Marianna's father was Josephi Jelen (b. ~1843, if you count 25 years as a generation); her mother was Marianna Szkaradek.

Marianna was married to Adalbertus Janik (who was born in Gierowa, Malopolskie, Poland) and they lived in Roznów, Malopolskie, Poland. After the death of my g-grandfather, Marianna married Joannes Hajduk, likely around 1901.

...just as a sidelight...the family tree my brother started ~1991 listed Marianna's birthplace as 'Germany' (although he can't tell me why at this point). The area you're looking at was in the German-administered area of Poland (or Germany, itself) prior to 1945. Remember that I'm guessing which Janiszowa she was born it...there are likely many of them.

That's all I have on Marianna Jelen. The Jelen branch is pretty much a brick wall for the time being, although some progress has been made recently.
