Probably should have posted this awhile ago since it will clear up a lot of confusion for the Strelzick spelling searching their roots.
If you are a Strelzick spelling that can tie back to Hazlet, NJ, Queens, NY or Wantagh, NY then you have a paternal line to Edward F. Strelzick that lived in Queens, NY and later New Haven, CT.
The Edward Strelzick in CT - father of Edward in NJ and Joseph in NY was born in San Antonio, TX and was a child of Frank Joseph Strelzick and Elizabeth Tessler (or Dassler and later Kullman). The spellings are different on multiple documents but Franciszek Josef Strzelczyk was the 8th and youngest child of Gregor Strzelczyk and Christyna Kottys and born in Krasiejow (sometimes Krascheow), Poland in 1867 (although his grave says 1866). At the time it was part of Germany but he was ethnically Polish and Catholic. He joined his older brothers Andrew and Thomas in St. Hedwig, TX in 1887 but lived in San Antonio and was the only one to change the spelling. Descendants of his and Elizabeth's other children live in Central Texas as do I; a descendant of Joseph in NY (it came full circle). If you look at the roots you'll see recurring Edward, Frank and Joseph in the Strelzick spelling. Maybe a little known fact but Marian Redmond (nee Strelzick) was named after Marian Oden on this message thread.
