Regional History

I would be very interested in any regional history of the Mszczonow gmnia. I have been reading websites but have not found any books which describes an in depth history of this area. The county is Zyradow and of course the voivoidship is Mazowiecki. Any recommendations are welcome!
Thank You,
Teresa
tzdulska
dt77@mchsi.com

Civil Records for Residents of Strzyze & Osuchow 1920-1930

I would like to find the civil documentation of a relative's marriage. The Catholic ceremony took place at St. Stanislaws, Osuchow. I believe the documetation would have been originally in Mszczonow (but Zyradow or Skienerwice are also possible).
The marriage would have been 1925 or 1926.
The man was from Strzyze.
The woman lived in Pienki Osuchowskie with relatives. These villages are across the road from one another (the local road between Mszczonow and Osuchow).
If these records still exist would they have been transferred to a regional archive or Warsaw?

I realize no one may specifically know, however, any insight would allow me a logical plan to start my letter writing with.
Any Help or Direction would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Teresa
tzdulska
dt77@mchsi.com

Radeks from Surowe
I've run into a bit of a standstill in researching the Radek's in the US and am beginning to research the family in Poland. I've been focusing on Walenty (Valentine) Radek (my dad's grandfather)(b. abt 1875, d. 24 Feb 1935). I know that immigrated from the village of Surowe and settled in Union City, CT along with his brother Jozef (I'm not sure if they came over at the same time). His wife, Katarzyna (Katherine) Radek (Kaczkowski)(b. abt 1876, d. 12 Feb 1960), arrived in NY on 17 May 1903 along with 2 daughters Marianna (b. 1900) and Antoinette (b. Nov 1902) and joined Walenty in Union City, CT where they remained for a number of years.

While in Union City they had 6 additional sons- my ggf Theofil (went by Luke)(b. 22 Oct 1914, CT, d. Jan 1977 Chicago, IL) and additionally Walenty (Valentine)(b. 1904, CT), Walter (b. 1906, CT), Victor (b. 5 Nov 1912, CT, d. 21 Jul 1993), Stanislaus (Stanley)(b. 1912 CT), Bennie (Babe)(b. 1920 Chicago, IL)

Katherine has a sister named Anna that settled in Bufaloe I beleive.

Before 1920 they relocated to Chicago, IL with a short stop in Indiana (family rumor for the stop in IN).

I know that the parish for Surowe is now Czarnia, but know that Czarnia was not built until around 1890 so most of the relevant records that might be useful would be with Myszyniec, but that records pre- 1920 or so are not available due to WWII. So, I'm not sure where I should turn. I'm in the process of acquiring a copy of Walenty's and Katarzyna's death certificates hoping that the parents names will present along with any other info. If anyone has any idea's I would appreciate them and if any of the names sound familiar please let me know.

My great great grandparents were both from Paczuski, Mazowieckie, Poland (formerly Russia). My gg grandfather was Jan Pawlikowski (1880?-1970?) and his wife my gg grandmother was Antonina Kozicki (1882-1918). They were both born in the town, and lived there.

They came to the US in 1906 had four children, Marja, Helena, Stanislaw, and Jadwiga Kasimira. They went back to Paczuski around 1915. Then they had another child, Regina in 1918 and Antonina died giving birth to her.

Jan's mother was Jozafa, and he had at least a brother Antoni.

Antoinette's father was Tommis Kozicki (1860?-????), and she had at least two brothers Jan and Aleksander, and two a sister Leokadia.

Does anyone have any connections to this family? Does anyone know of any churches in Paczuski? Does anyone else research in the Paczuski area that may know what records to research?

Name of a Cath. Churches in Warsaw near Bednarska St or Prage Radziminska?

My great-grandfather was born in Gory, Poland, but I have been unable to find which Gory he and his brother came from (there are many). I recently found that his brother and sister-in-law were married in Warsaw, and the address his sister-in-law gave on a manifest was "Bednarska St. N.T. Poland." The address his brother gave on a different manifest was "Praga Radziminska, Warsaw.

I'm wondering if someone might know the location of a Catholic Church (or options for churches) near Bednarska street and Prage Radziminska that would have been open between 1900-1907. I'm thinking that if I can find their marriage record then it might provide which parish the groom came from, and ultimately where my great-grandfather was born. Thanks, Chip

Ruchaje information - Ridel family

My Grandfather (Frank Ridel) and three siblings (Joseph, Mary and Anna Murzin) came from Ruchaje to the U.S. between 1902 and 1906. They were the children of John and Annie Ridel. From what I can find Ruchaje was a small village near Czarnia where I believe a parish was formed in 1885. I was wondering if anyone knew if the Czarnia Parish would be the place to try to locate records or if Ruchaje belonged to a different one.

Any help or info on Ruchaje would be appreciated.

I've been searching for the towns of Osekar and Delieza, but haven't had any luck. These names were listed in baptismal and marriage records in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for my CIESLAK family. Also listed in a ship record was a last residence of Czekanow, which I believe to be Ciechanow, Gubernia (Russian Administrative District) Plock is also mentioned. I have a feeling that some of these are small villages within the area of Plock. I have located Czekanow, but have not found records yet. If you have run into the same problem--please let us BANG our heads together! :) Records in America state that my CIESLAKS were from Russia--Poland--and Germany. They came to the US in 1891 and 1901. Their ethnic background is Polish.

Help with Death Record Interpretation (again)

I have one more death record from Gozdowo, Poland written in the Russian style that I’m hoping someone could help me interpret it. The 1873 record (No. 17) shows the death of Honorata (nee Kowalska) Przyborowski. Her husband was Franciszek. Her age is about 47. I’m curious about the basics: the actual date, and if there is a cause of death and any other vital information.

Thanks for your help.
Chip
Hi,
The attached record took place in 1869 in the Gozdowo Parish near Sierpc in Poland. While I can usually interpret the Polish (Napoleonic) style records, this one is in Russian. I'm wondering if someone could interpret the basics.

The man is Wawryzniec Przyborowski. He should be about 53 years old, and he died in 1869. The record also mentions Michal and Franiciszek Przyborowski. His wife should be Aneila, but I don't see her name in there.

I'm just looking for the date he died, if cause of death is listed, his occupation, who found him, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Chip

I am researching my grandfather, Edward Strey, born 13, April 1884 in Plock, (Polutkz, Plosk) all the same town, Poland. Father's name was Wilhelm Strey and mother's Caroline(Nattz) Strey. Edward was raised in the Lutheran religion. He immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri U.S.A. in 1907. Stayed one year and went to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Came back to St, Louis through Ellis Island Oct., 1910. Married Maria Taus in St. Louis on 23, June 1914. They had a son, Edward Strey,Jr.and a daughter Mary (Strey) Myers. Mary was my mother. He lived the rest of his life in St. Louis. Can anyone out there help me find if Edward had brothers and sisters and their families. Please contact me at jacbeck56@gmail.com.. Thank you. Jackie

In researching the LDS microfilms of the rural parish of Gralewo, located 15-20 km SE of the town of Raciaz, I have developed a family tree of close to 500 names, including the ones shown in the surname list, of people living from 1790-1860. Many more members of these families have been annotated, even though I haven't figured out their exact linkages. Please contact me if you would like to share information.

Sierpc and neighboring villages & parishes-Plock diocese

if anyone has done research in Sierpc area, i'm hoping someone can help.
I have already found my grandfather & his sister in Kurowo parish films . he was born in Kuniewo & his sister in Zoltowo, both in the that area. I am currently trying fo find my grandmother & family in the same area. she was born in Smozewo according to her naturalization papers, which is right near Kurowo, Kuniewo, etc. so far all the films i have for there no luck.
they left for the US from Milobedzyn, which is a village near Sierpc, & i have the films for that, but they dont go past 1900. they were married in 1901 in Sierpc according to the nat. papers. of course that doesnt mean it was in Sierpc.
my question is for anyone who has experience researching this area or even others , what is the likelihood that the families moved around between the births & marriages? my next step is to look for her father who was probably born in mid 1840's & maybe a marriage in early 1860's. her sister was born in 1865 & still cant find her either. my grandmother was born in 1882.
could she have been baptized & birth recorded in another Parish in the area, other than Kurowo, even though it is closest? i have also rented films for Mochowo & Golesyn now & nothing yet there.
would they have migrated around perhaps a 10 mile or so radius? i am just frustrated i cannot even find 1 of her family.
would appreciate any input or suggestions from anyone who has done this area.
thank you .

She was living in Chicago, IL with her daughter(Magdalena) and son-in-law.
She immigrated to the USA in 1884 or 1885. She was born in Poland in 1825. I think she was from Warsaw.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great day!

There is a village about two miles south of Plock, Poland, between Plock and Lack, called Gory. Does anyone know if Gory belongs to the parish of Plock, or some other parish? I think my ancestors came from Gory, and would like to order the films from the family history center, but I’m not sure if I should order the tapes for Plock or some other parish. Thanks

The Times, Trenton, New Jersey, Friday, February 15, 2008
TRENTON - Christopher W. Mier Sr., a Trenton area resident for the past 60 years, died on Wednesday at Compassionate Care Hospice located at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton. Christopher was 86 years of age. Chris is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Claire Patterson Mier; four sons; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four stepchildren and one step-granddaughter including David and Linda Mier of Yardley, PA, Edwin and Teri Mier of Hightstown, Christopher and Beth Mier of Longwood, FL, Thomas and Dawn Mier of Yardley, PA, Sharon Patterson of Westmont, Burtis and Patty Patterson of North Naples, FL, Delores Patterson of Fort Pierce, FL, and Dean and Stephanie Patterson of Sedona, AZ. Chris was predeceased by his son Randall M. and his first wife Peggy Maskowski Mier, originally of Pottstown, PA. Chris Mier was born Konstanty Vladik Mierzejewski on Dec. 2, 1921 in Archibald Borough, located near Mayfield, PA. In 1925, his family relocated with him back to their ancestral home in Poland. Following the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Chris, then 17, was apprehended and shipped to Germany as a forced laborer. He remained a prisoner and laborer for six years under the Nazi regime, until freed by advancing Russians in 1945 when he returned to the family home in the village of Bobin, located near Ostroleka, Poland. On Oct. 18, 1946, Chris was granted Travel Order Number 525 by the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw allowing him to be repatriated to the United States of America for permanent residence. He settled in Pennsylvania and learned the electrical trade. In 1948 he married Peggy Maskowski and moved to Trenton where their five sons were born. Chris started and retired from his own electrical contracting firm, Chris' Electric, which he ran for four decades and enabled him to send all five of his sons through college. The company now does business as East Coast Electric, run by his son, Thomas. A lifelong area electrician, Chris was a co-founder of the Central Jersey Electrical League, which in the 1960s was pivotal in the first state licensing of electrical contractors. Chris was a longtime parishioner of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, and most recently of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Trenton. He was a member of BPOE Elks Bordentown Lodge 2085, Trenton Polish Business and Professional Men's Association, Padre Junipero Serra Club of Trenton, Delaware Valley Businessmen's Association and the Central Jersey Electrical League and various Hamilton/Trenton senior organizations.

I am looking for information on my great-grandfather. Stanislau (Stanley) Chrobocinski was born between 1895 and 1897 depending on what source is used. He married Francis (born 1901, died after 1943) around 1916, probably in Jersey City, New Jersey. I have no information on Francis other than what is above. On Stanley's World War II Registration Card, he lists his place of birth as Portz, Poland but I have been told it may have been Plock, but mispronounced. I have reason to believe that his family may be from Mlawa and that his father's name may have been Wojciech. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone provide some information on these points:
1. Fate of Fradla Rozenbaum (born Gutmer)after december 1942
2. where to get birth & marriage certificat.
3. Polish name of street appearing in german on last postcard sent.

She was in her early thirties in 1942 & had a daughter (age about 5) named Ruchela. She was still alive but sick with tuberculosis in Dec. 1942 at this address :
14 Haupt Strasse
Neu-Hof bei Modlin

which translates in english as:
14 Main Street
Nowy Dwor near Modlin

In Polish I believe "Main Street" should be "Glowna Ulica".
But in checking recent maps of Nowy Dwor I could not find such a street name. Does the street still exist under a different name?
I have vainly searched on internet (including jewishgen) & now place my hope in either personal feedback or reference to possible archive sources in Poland.
