I have Derkacz/ Dyrkacz family who came from Tuczempy. There is some question whether they were Polish or Ukrainian, and there is an issue that there was a mass conversion from GC to RC in this area sometime in the late 1800's. I would like to know how you went about getting the GC records for mid 1800's. Please e-mail me at lmlee47@hotmail.com Thanks.

Hello Bronwyn - Thank you for your further info. I have looked at the websites you recommended and will be following up on them. I looked in further detail at the other reply that was in German (I think it's German) and I now think that it is a copy of a reply to someone else's query. So thanks for your offer, but I don't want to take up your time. Meanwhile I will be visiting my local LDS center after we return from a short trip south.

In appreciation, take care, Janet

I would like to find out how to access birth and marriage records for Nowa Sol, Poland (Neusalz, German Empire) for the 1800s. My gr-grandfather, Reinhold Johan Wagner was born there in 1822 and married Henrietta Louise Dillman (Diehlmann?) before 1857. The family immigrated to New York in 1869. I hope that someone can help me with this - any clue would be greatly appreciated.

My great-grandfather Xaverius Franciscus Jozefowski was supposed to be from Lache (Smieszkowo. He was born about 1841. He is not registered in the church books from Lache for that time. I am trying to find out were he is born and who his parents were. Does someone has church books from Leipe (Lippo), Wilkowo, Strochnest (Osieczna)Oelpoche (Olejnica)Schmiegel (Czacz, Bialcz)Fraustadt (Wschowa)Graetz (Opalenica, Opalenitza)or any of the other towns in the province of Lubuskie?
Xaverius Franciscus married Anna Rosina Feder (Fedor or Foedor)in 1869 in her home town of Schmidtschen (Smyczyna)in the region of Lissa (Leszno). She was the daughter of Laurentius Feder (von) and Magdalena (Helena) Beisert or Peisert (y) Feders lived in a small village of Schmidtschen (Smyczyna) from about 1823. I have no idea where they came from. Laurentius Feder was born about 1796 and his parents were Franciscus Feder (von) and Anna Elisabeth Weis.
Has someone seen the names in some of the church records? Every bit of help and information is appreciated. Thank you.
Lena

Those people I found are from Sobotka / Ostrow Wielkopolski / Wrzesnia/ Torun/ Koluszki/ Boguszow Gorce/ Warszawa, since it's not a common surname maybe someone from those I found is your relative.
(Polish spelling: Sobótka / Ostrów Wielkopolski / Września/ Toruń/ Boguszów Gorce, I'm not sure if you can see Polish letters though that's why I wrote it without Polish letters as well)

Some of those people put their Skype ID there and since everybody sees it because it's available and can be seen by all I think it's not bad if I share it with you too:
aleksander5283 Warszawa 11yo boy so I guess you would have to ask for his dad
ra_jess Wrzesnia 41 female
(I hope they speak English or any other language that you both speak so you could communicate)

If you wanna I may send them all a message and ask if their relatives come from Lublin and its area or tell you how to use that website so you could browse people yourself by surname or town they live(ed) in.

*******************************************************************************************
Karolinow that you are talking about is in gmina (community) Ruda-Huta that's their website http://ruda-huta.home.pl/index.php?option=com_contact&It... and you see an email address there maybe if you write them they will be able to give you some more info. Unfortunately there is no forum on that site and I couldn't leave a message asking if they knew your relatives, but maybe they will be able to give you an email to somebody who is your relative or knew/knows your relatives.

As for Bielsko hm you may mean Bielsko-Biala (Polish spelling: Bielsko-Biała) but it's not that close to Lublin but it's not that far away either check on the map and judge yourself.
In 1951 two towns Bielsko and Biała and now they make one city Bielsko-Biała.

***************************************************************************************************
http://www.lsi.lublin.pl/kos/ko.htm that's the list of the churches in Lublin with phone numbers if your relatives were buried or belonged to one of them they should have records there but I guess it's Karolinow what you have to check up. So you'd better write them-Karolinow- and see if they write you back, if they write you back in Polish or won't write much in English, they may not speak English, send it to me so I will write them and ask what you wanna ask them.

**************************************************************************************************

I don't know where you found the info you already have maybe what you found is all that was saved. Records like that are kept at city halls (or sth like that) and also at churches but maybe some of them were destroyed/lost during WWII so if you don't get to know more from such 'official' sources you should try to contact people who are related to you and could tell you what you can't find in records.
Sorry that I wasn't able to help you better, I did my best and researched things. If you have some suggestions or you need help in Polish while contacting with people, whether on that website that I used or writing emails to some officials, let me know.

Geetings,
Martyna
I have met multiple people whos families orignate from Ropczyce and have moved to the closest cities. Take a peek at Facebook... tons of Sasiadek's on there.

I am trying to find information about my great grandfather Gustav Moritz Becker, born in Jany or Janus be Gruenberg(now Zielona Gora), Silesia on 29th November, 1836 and lived in Prittag. He was the son of Friedrich August Becker, a teacher in Jany. Gustav migrated to Australia, from Hamburg, on the schooner "Sophie and Frederike" on 25 October, 1860. He arrived in South Australia on 15th February, 1861. He married Ernestine Auguste Gunder on 24 September, 1863.
I have not been able to find any information and would appreciate any help anyone can give me, Thanks, Chris

Last week, I was finally able to get hold of Zarubince's greek catholic vital records, unfortunately It was only 1830-1865. I have been unable to find any others.
From these I have been able to make huge progress with both the Sasiadek and Rozwadowski lines.

Gregorius Sasiadek=Maria Inces Derkacz=Leuromia Solar
Vincentino Sasiadek=Maria Derkacz
Jozef Sasiadek (<1860-1923) Eufrosina Sasiadek (F 1863-A 1863)

From what I found in the village, there was only one Sasiadek family all living at plot number 38 and they had arrived in the village between 1851 and 1858 (this has been deduced from the earliest date of available records as well as chance in family at plot 38). I have no idea how to find out where they moved from, or even how to continue this line of research.

Jozef Sasiadek married an Irene Rozwadowski. The Rozwadowskis had remained in the village since 1830 so was able to fully trace her parents and grandparents.

However, I hit a very new problem with which I am completely baffled.

Irene Rozwadowski's mother was (according to half the records) Pelagria Prusack, whilst the other half of records declared her mother as Pelagria Szmorhay. Pelagria's father was alternatlely called Gregori Szmorhay and Gregori Prusack. Both people are identical (exactly same dates and parents and grandparents), however there is no constant name. Why would this occur?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and especially any ideas as to how I should continue my reasearch,

Many thanks,

Ben Skliar-Ward
We are a branch of the Sasiadek's that left Ropczyce, Poland in 1929. Franek and Salomea Sasiadek left for Canada first stopping in England for a short time before heading to Canada. They had two children Stanislaw (my grandfather) and Vina (spelling not correct). Franek had a brother Loubek(?) who was left behind in Poland and the rest of the information I have to get from my very elderly Grandfather. From what I have met on Facebook there are a few branches of Sasiadeks and so far we all come from that one town and seem to be distantly related.
s-

Ben,
Came across your query when I googled my name. My father Michal was born in a village about 20 miles from Krakow and my grandfather Jan, was born somewhere in the Ukraine, don't know where but my guess is it was quite close to the Polish Ukraine border My grandfathers first family left him and moved to America, very vague family history, he then had a second family and reputedly wanted to marry again when he was about 80, to a local 18 year old.
My own father was in the Polish Navy and came to Britain in a warship just before Poland was invaded. He settled in Scotland.

Sasiadek Family

I am in the process of trying to find Sasiadek relatives. I know the ancestral village was Zarubince, near Zbaraz, near Ternopil in Poland and they lived there for over 100 years up until 1945, where, as Poles, were resettled due to WW2 boundary changes.
The family then moved to Zielona Gora (and the surrounding villages including Sokola Dabrowa, where my great, great uncle Piotr Sasiadek was a priest) , Lubuskie.
Any help as to how I should go bout finding information or if anyone has information/is related I would be most grateful

Ben Skliar

Address for parish in Gorzyn:

Parafia Rzymsko-Katolicka p.w. Niepokalanego Poczecia NMP
Gorzyn 2
Lubsko
68-300

website: http://www.gorzyn.republika.pl

Couldn't find an address for parish for Hlowa or Howa. Could be that the parish in Gorzyn services that town as well. I'll take a look at my (historic) geographic dictionary of Poland and my current-day atlas a little later, when I have more time, for a listing for a town with either spelling.

Regards,
MJ

Hi,

I couldn't find a listing for a town named Howa or Hlowa in the Slownik Geograficzny Krolestwa Polskiego (Polish geographical dictionary), published in 1882, nor in my current Polish atlas. Is it possible that it's Mlawa or Glowa instead? There are three Gorzyn in Poland - two spelled Go~rzyn (with an accented O) and one spelled Gorzyn~ (with an accented N). None of them have a town with anything even close to Hlowa, Howa, Mlawa, or Glowa near them.

The Go~rzyn I gave the address for is the one in woj. lubuskie (near Lubsko). The other Go~rzyn is in woj. dolnoslaskie (east of Polkowice). Gorzyn~ is in woj. wielkopolskie (south of Mie~dzycho~d).

Sorry I couldn't help more. :-(

Regards,
MJ

Hi,

Actually, the town you're reading as Howa is IL~OWA (slashed L). So maybe your Howa is Il~owa! In 1925, that part of Poland was in Germany (Silesia) and hadn't yet become Polish territory (which happened after WW2).

Regards,
MJ

Hello DJ
Hope this reaches you after all this time. If you are looking for the NIMTZ name you might consider your place of interest to be Bärwalde, Kreis Neustettin [now Barwice http://www.barwice.pl/].
This is closest to the place from where most NIMTZ originate, namely Gellin.

There is a US family search team currently investigating this family name and locality along with a young German helper looking through the churchbooks for NIMTZ names [and for his family].

Please contact me for more.
David
[now in Scotland]

PS: CCarl and Johann NIMTZ married into my BREITZKE family from this area around the 1880s.

Wikipedia actually shows:
Bärwalde ist der Name:

* einer Stadt im Powiat Szczecinecki, Polen; siehe Barwice
* einer Stadt im Powiat Gryfiński, Polen; siehe Mieszkowice
* eines Ortsteils der Gemeinde Boxberg/O.L., Sachsen;
o mit einem dort befindlichen See; siehe Speicher Bärwalde
* eines Ortsteils der Gemeinde Niederer Fläming, Brandenburg; siehe Bärwalde (Fläming)
* eines alten Herrschaftsgebietes in der Gemeinde Niederer Fläming (Gemeinde); siehe Ländchen Bärwalde
* eines Ortsteil der Stadt Radeburg, Sachsen; siehe Bärwalde (Radeburg)
