Possible siblings include Anna, Kasia (also b. 1888), Fedko, and Andrus ( b. 1877?), Haven't been able to absolutely prove any sibling connections, though she was traveling with Kasia.
The surname Majdan

I am trying to find information on my family but it has been difficult. I just really started this a couple of months ago. At the time, all I knew when was great-grandfather's name (which turned out to be the American spelling he later adopted). Through someone else's help online, I got information on his marriage and death and very recently, I got his naturalization record from Michigan. I would appreciate any and all help.

Here's what I know:

My great-grandfather's name was Piotr/Peter Majdan. He was born on either 20 Sep 1894 (death record) or 14 Aug 1893 (immigration papers) in Lublin, Poland to parents Jacob Majdan and Katie Sprinjel. He immigrated to the US on 12 Aug 1913 settling in Kalamazoo, MI. I can give more information on his family if that helps, but I am mainly now trying to find information on his parents and ancestors in Poland. I do not know if his parents migrated but I have never heard they did. I know Majdan is a placename in Poland so I know it is possible that is where the last name derives from. But looking on the immigration papers, the spelling doesn't appear to have changed from the time Piotr came to the US until now.

I've never done family research outside of the US because, up until now, I hadn't got that far. Now I have and I'm in a whole new ballgame. Did they have birth certificates back then? Anything similar to Social Security death records?

He is somehow related to Jan Matejko and had at least two brothers, Josef, born 1889 in Lublin (Krolestevo?), & Stanislaw. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you! Piotr Jaskot had a brother named Wojcieck of Grabowka, Lublin, Poland.

My grandma Maryanna married John Pocialik. She had a newphew named Piotr Jaskot in Windsor, Ontario, Canada who was married to Barbara. They had 2 daughters, Theresa Jaskot (b. late 1940's) and Diane Jaskot (b. early 1950's). I have photos of these Canadian Jaskots.

I believe there was another Jaskot relative, a male, who lived on Asbury Park Street in Detroit, he and his wife had 3 sons, but I cannot remember any of their names. Youngest son would have been born in early 1960's.

(This is my first forray into searching so I apologise if I'm a bit vague!)He had a brother Zygmunt and a sister (name not known). I think his mother was Franciszka and his father Jozefy. Also I think they were farmers. I'm sure there are relatives still in Poland but i have no contact details. Any help is much apreciated.

Hello!

I am Matthew Donald Zarzeczny, born November 14, 1979 in Quantico, Virginia. My father is Daniel Chester Zarzeczny, born January 7, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio. His father is Chester Zarzeczny, born February 25, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio. Finally, his father is John Zarzeczny, born May 14, 1895 in Lublin, Poland.

I hope that is a helpful start. If you have discovered any additional information regarding this lineage, I would certainly be curious to know it. :) I am especially interested in finding out the status of my ancestors during the time of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, because I will be researching Napoleonic history for my doctorate at the Ohio State University.

Have a pleasant day!

Sincerely,
Matthew D.
I'm looking for information about Samuel Lockstein's family. He was born in 1840 in Uscimow and was a merchant. He married Wilhelima Eckert (Eggert) and they had at least two sons, John and August. These two sons with their wives left from Hamburg in 1899 for Gillett, Oconto County, Wisconsin and settled there. Samuel and Wilhelmina followed in 1901. A daughter is said to have been left behind. On Samuel's citizenship papers issued in 1870, his father is listed as Martin and his mother as Zuzzana. On those papers the name is Lockstadt. Samuel was Lockstedt when he emigrated. John and August were Lockschtein when they emigrated, and the family is now known as Lockstein. I'd like to connect with anyone related to this family.

Searching Polish Ancestry: Family

Searching for Surnames: Pirog, Papke, Derbowiez, Sidrek. My great great grandfather's name was Louis Pirog and his wife's name was Julia Derbowiez. The only children that I know of that they had were: John Pirog/Pirok, Peter Pirog/Pirok, Walter Pirog, Martin Pirog, and Joseph L.Pirog/Pirok (my great grandfather). Joseph immi. to the US in 1913 on board the S.S. Neckar from Bremen, Germany. He married in 1916 to Cellia Papke (my great grandmother) and her parents names were: Alexander Papke and Sophie Sidrek. Cellia had a brother Alexander Papke as well.
My family has most of the information for Joseph and Cellia (Parents names and place of origin) but we are still searching for other siblings that they might have had that we do not know of. Cellia also immi. to the US in 1913 on board the S.S. Neckar from Bremen, Germany. Thier ethnicity states that they were Russian/Polish and were from Tomaszow, Lublin, Poland.
Joseph's certificate of citizenship states that his last name was originally spelled Pirog. It was changed to Pirok when he immi. to the US.
We are having a difficult time trying to pin-point locations in Poland that they might have originated from in order to find Marriage records for Joseph and Cellia's parents. We have come to dead end in researching any further with these surnames in Poland and we are asking for you help for any information.
I know that Joseph's brother's John and Peter immi. to the US in 1912. John was married and left his spouse Anna in Poland (do not know what here maiden name is). He was listed as a shoemaker. Please Help.

POCIALIK, JASKOT from Grabowka & Zastozce Lublin

I am looking for any record of Jan Pocialik of Zastocze, who married Maryna Jaskot of Grabowka; also for her father Jan Jaskot, also of Grabowka who married Katzarna or Kathryn. I think Jan Pocialik's father may have been Francinek Pocialik, and he was allegedly an orphan and spent time in the White Russian Army (that is the story). Possibly Jan Pocialik had a brother or other relative, Wincenty Pocialik.

Jan Pocialik and Maryna Jaskot were married in Poland prior to their immigration to USA in 1913. They had at least 3 children in Poland, Bronislawa (Bernice), Zophia (Dolores), Helena (Helen), oldest was 7 years upon arrival, but there is rumor the eldest boy died at sea (unable to confirm). I would guess the marriage to be 1900-05.

Any record at all of any Pocialik in or near Zastocze or Grabowka prior to 1913 would be most appreciated, as well as any record of Jan Jaskot or Wojcheck Jaskot of Grabowka.

Thank you,

Michelle (Klask) Padgett

This has been my brick wall that I have not been able to get past. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Confused in Poland
Susie
