I have been extensively researching my Polish roots in the US and have now come to the point where I think I can begin researching in Poland.

Salomea (Malinowska) Borkowska was born abt 1868 in Kowal, Poland, died May 27, 1940 Chicago, Ill. I got her birthplace from ellis island ship manifest. Her father is listed as John Malinowski on her DC and as Ignac Malinowski on the manifest.

She married Felix Gustaw Borkowski abt 1888 (birth of first child). Felix's birthplace is listed as Tarnow on his DC; his father listed as Herman.

Felix Borkowski was born in 1867 and died on Jan 31 1932 Chicago, Ill, immigrated to Chicago, Ill on Mar 5, 1903 and made a living as a cabinet maker. Salomea's eldest daughter, Martha b 1889 Wloclawek, immigrated in 1906 to join her father in Chicago. The rest of the family, Salomea, Czeslawa aka Cecylia, Stefania aka Irena, and Stanislawa aka Stella immigrated on May 6, 1908. All of Salomea and Felix's childrens' birth places are listed as Wloclawek on the ship manifests.

I have found towns named Wloclawek and Kowal located near each other in Wloclawek county in Poland.

I descend from Salomea and Felix's daugher Martha who married Michal Jastrzembski in St Hedwig Church Chicago Illinois on Jan 26 1910.

Michal's parents are listed as Bronislaus Jastrzembski and Josepha Bryczek on their marriage record from St Hedwig's parish records. Michal's birth place is listed as Siedlce on his WWII draft card.

I looked for film in the FHL library catalog and I believe I have found the film I need for Salomea, Felix and their children.

It appears that I need 2121384 and 2121385 to find birth records for Salomea and Felix's children in Wloclewak but do not know Polish to decipher the exact description of the film.
Film description:
Title: Kopie księg metrykalnych, 1808-1900
"Akta małżeństw 1881-1889"
"Akta małżeństw 1889-1896"

I think film 2227739 would be the correct film to begin researching Kowal birth records for Salomea's birth in Kowal, but again am not for sure.
Title: Kopie księg metrykalnych, 1809-1887
Film description: "Akta urodzeń 1860-1877"

Can anybody tell me if these are the films I should order?

Also, if anybody knows any more about my ancestors, the information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help,
-Dennis

I am not a Polish speaker but can muddle thru a simple words. You can also try www.translate.google.com
małżeństw - marriage
urodzeń - birth
The only thing you need to worry is the priest's handwriting.
