Hello - I'm trying to find more information on my own surname, Wilczenski. My great grandfather came to the US in 1904 and his name was Konstanty Marezin Wilczenski (Wilczeky). Supposedly, his father's name was Marezin (Martin) as well. I've been trying to narrow down the province and city, and I know that there are only a few Wilczenski's living in Poland today.

Top Cities for Wilczenski:

KRAKOW , LODZKIE , POLAND
JELENIA GORA , DOLNOSLASKIE , POLAND

If anyone can help me locate Wilczenski's living in Poland, or any historical documentation on those that have passed away, I would really appreciate it.

Klekotka from Wilka, Poland?

I've been searching for immigration information about my Polish great-great-grandmother, Stefania Klekotka. She emigrated (alone) to St. Louis, MO around 1910.

I found this passenger manifest on Ancestry.com that seems to me quite likely to be her:

http://www.ancestry.com/rd/viewrecord.aspx?dbname=&dbid=...

This manifest lists "Wilka, Ruska" as her birth city. I found a Wilka, Poland on the polish version of Wikipedia (http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilka), but I don't speak Polish and can't read much of what it says. It's an article stub, anyway.

Does anyone know anything about this town? Seems like it's a very small place. I can't find anything in English about it (except that it's part of the title of a play or book called "The Maidens from Wilka")

Does anyone know about the Klekotka family?

--josh

I need to know who to contact regarding records held during the Prussian Empire.

My ancestors came from a small village known as Steinkunzendorf. According to the 1993 "Euroatlas Polen", this village was called Kamionki in the district of Dzierzoniow in the Republic of Poland. However, I see now that it has been changed again. This is where I am stuck.

It would be so kind to contact me as to who I can write regarding my great, great grandfather, August LEUCHTENBERGER. All I have is his passenger list from 1873 which clearly shows he lived there. Please contact me via email at vcr1187@fgi.net

Hello,

I am looking for information on Nad. Irena Gorna. I was 13 years old when Irena and another woman came to Jackson, MI to visit my parents and me. Shortly after they returned to Poland, my parents received a handwritten letter from Irena. The return address is given as:

Nad. Irena Gorna
GOLA8
58-123 STRZELCE
WO. WALBRZYCH
POLSKA

It's hard to tell from the photograph which was enclosed with the letter, but I would guess that Irena was in her mid to late 20's in 1980.

This may be a distant relative on my dad's side and I am trying to establish the link between my family and hers. She may be a descendant of the Narkiewicz, Dombrowski, Wroblewski, Orlowski, or Lewkowicz famlies from Pruszka Wielka, Suwalki and Przystajne, Filipow, and then relocated to southern Poland

Do these names sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks,
Susan

HEIDRICH, PEISKER, BOEHME, ERHARDT, HAYN

I'm trying to trace my husband's ancestors, surname PEISKER. Frederik Sigismund Christian Peisker and possilbly brother Louis Peisker and cousin Georg Hayn emigrated in 1853 to America. I have a will for Friedrich August Heidrich who died in 1867 and surnames Peisker and Erhardt are mentioned in it. Also have letters in German, one written at Ober Lobendau in 1885, writer unknown but possibly Madame Erhardt. There is an Aunt Lottie mentioned who I believe may have been wife to Friedrich Heidrich, full name Johanne Chrlotte Louise Boehme. Aunt Lottie died in 1884 probably in Ober Lobendau. So far I just have bits and pieces and am trying to put them together. Ring any bells please contact me. Thanks! Karen

In the first half of the 18th century a forefather of mine, a former soldier, comes to Leeuwarden, Netherlands from 'Strijgau in Silesie' (Burgerboek Leeuwarden, al list of persons obtaining the city's citizenship). My best guess what that might be in German is Dornstolzer, but frankly, I have no idea.
My guess about the town name is far more certain: Strzegom, in German Striegau, which sounds similar to a possible pronunciation of Strijgau.
Besides, I am quite convinced he was a catholic. In a period where this religion was not quite accepted he marries in a RC service, his children are baptised RC.
Anyone about who can supply some information? I am sorry, I don't speak or understand Polish. German is OK though.

Hello:

I'm trying to locate ancestors and descendants of Katarzyna (nee Niemiec) Szulc, born @1875-1890 in Poland, probably in what is known as the Kresy area (eastern Poland--today known as Ukraine and Belarus). Her descendants were evacuated to Dabrowa, powiat Milicz, woj. dolnoslaskie, and another village in the recovered territories, right after World War II.

Katarzyna had the following children: Julcia, Marynia (married Michal Skwarek), Mila, Hela (married name Karbowska), Jasiek, and Jozek. Jasiek and Jozek had been evacuated to an unknown village in western Poland--one of them has a daughter named Lidia.

Katarzyna Niemiec Szulc had a sister, Zofia, who married Jozef Janusz. Zofia and Jozef Janusz had lived in Kolomeja and Tarnow in Poland, as well as, Pennsylvania, Michigan and California in the States.

I know that this message is a long shot, but there is always hope!

Many thanks,

Hali
Bachmann, Grecksch, Spulak family info PLEASE

I am trying to locate any information regarding my mother's family. Her father was Ernst Gustav Adolf Bachmann, born in the Breslau (Wroclaw) area in 1895(?). He had three brothers, Georg, Alfons and Willi. I believe there may have been a sister Marichen who died of a lung infection when she was a young woman. We think that their father was also Adolf Bachmann and that the mother may have been Maria.
Ernst Gustav Adolf Bachman married Martha Grecksch of the Hermsdorf (Jerzmanice Zdroj) area in 1898. Her father was Karl Grecksch who worked in a mine, and her mother was Agnes Spulak. She had several brothers and sisters, some of who were Robert, Richard, Karl, Albert, Emma, Klara and Mariechen. The only one I have been able to trace has been Robert's family.
This is the entire amount of information I have of my mother's ancestry and have become very frustrated over four years of searching for information with no success. My grandfather, Adolf Bachmann owned a butcher shop in Althein prior to 1928, and my mother can remember that his parents had a large house in Schwarzwaldau (Gzarny Bor). Her maternal grandparents (Karl Grecksch and Agnes Spulak) died prior to 1927.

My mother was born in a small village outside of Wroclaw on January 19, 1910. The name on the birth certificate was Frida Bachnick. Her mother was not married I believe, her father was a solgier in the war and was killed soon after. Her mother's name was Emma, but I am not sure of the last name although it might have been Sager or something close to that. She had one brother named Herbert and a half-sister named Trudel. She was married to Henry Hinze on May 5, 1935 and left immediately after to the United States.

Can anyone confirm Jawor as the location of records of baptisms performed in the Bolkow-Jawor area by the Lutheran Church in 1730?

I would also like to find the Lutheran Church records for the marriage of Carl Gottlieb SCHUBERT's parents.

I am looking for information about the Rusanowicz/Dombrowski/Racky family. Stella married a Frank Rusanowicz. They had 2 children, Frank and Pauline. Stella remarried Walter Dombrowski. She married a Mr. Racky after Walter died. I know that the Gilliland and Vassey family are related to Dombrowski. This is a long shot, but I am hoping someone out there has information for me. Thanks
e-mail me at slbodnar@hotmail.com

Sharri

Any information regarding the area or: Frederich Christlieb Schmidt, b: Aug. 20, 1835 in Giessmannsdorf who married Maria Rosina Schön (Schoen) March 3, 1867 from Ullersdorf, Bohemia (now Oldrichov, Czech Republic). They were married in Oberullersdorf (now Kopaczow, Poland). Modern maps show Kopaczow and a church as still there. Giessmannsdorf is no longer, as it was destroyed in order to mine the coal in that area, that today powers the large Turów Power Plant.
ANY information greatly appreciated.
