Seeking the whereabouts of ZAGONYI, Karoly who was captured during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and escaped to Turkey, made his way to London, then New York, then St.Louis, Missouri. He became a Major and then a Colonel in the Union Army under General John Charles Fremont during the Civil War. After the war he went to New York, then London, and finally to Pest, Hungary where he had a cigar shop around 1871.
