I would search for records from the town of Komarom, Hungary on the Mormons family Search website.

https://www.familysearch.org/#form=catalog

Komarom records
https://www.familysearch.org/search/search/library_catalog#s...=

From October 1895, the Hungarian government required all births deaths & marriages to be registered. Before that time each church had its own registers. The family search website might have digitised the civil registers for Komarom. I would also search the catalog and see if there are Church records (do you know which religion she practiced?) that you could order from Utah to check the birth record. If she married at age 20 ie 1897 it might be in the digitsed civil records.

It would not be too difficult to order the church records (if available) and search for a Katherine who was born 29Sep1877. In my experience marriages usually took place in the town of the bride's family.

I would suggest you try to confirm a place of birth with another US document like US marriage record and /or a child baptismal record. You need to be 100% sure with the location. Don't want you to proceed in the wrong village's church records.

Maria TKACS/TKAC^/TKACH was from Zsegra which is Zehra, Slovakia. The largest concentration of CAPIK is further East around the town of Michalovce with Koromla several km East.

surnames in Zehra in 1995 [includes males and females]
V obci ŽEHRA (okr.
Michal Capik (now Soppick) came over in 1897 and Maria Tkacs came over between 1897 and 1899 I believe 1897 which is on the passenger list I belive to be her which states from Zsegra. They were married in the US but I am not sure if they were roman or byzantine catholic would have to ask my grandmother. If its the right Maria she came to a small town in Pennsylvania which was heavily slovak and hungarian speaking because its the same town the Kultans and Tobolas lived. I am just trying to get further in my research and am hoping the death certifiucates help me with that. Thank you for all of your help, its been very helpful!

OK.
It was Austria-Hungary but the church records are where the location is. Does their arrival manifest list them as Slovak?
Hungary was the kingdom within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Slovakia was inside the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 when it was freed and became a part of Czechoslovakia, and so on, until the present when it is an independent country.

So, pre-1918 Slovaks would refer to themselves as Hungarians because they were citizens of Hungary, not because of their ethnicity which was Slovak. The people incorrectly called Hungarians in present-day English are the Magyars

Furthermore, one must be careful not to confuse ethnicity with citizenship or "rulership".

I guess thats where the confusion is because it clearly states Csacza, Hungary. I know they spoke slovak so this would make more sense.

Yes I went back and looked and it was written Csacza, Hungary. My brother and I assumed it was Csatka. But after your post realize its not. I realize it is in Slovakia but on all their passenger records it lists it as in Hungary. They all emmigrated in the last 1800's to early 1900's.

You're welcome.
But have you noticed that you posted on Hungary's board and not Slovakia? Now you list Csacza but in the original query you wrote the location Csatka. Both villages Cadca and Koromla are in Slovakia.
The village Koromla is in Eastern region and Cadca in Orava region.
Do look in the LDS-Mormons [Family History Center] site for the church records of both of the locations. If they were digitized you just might be able to view the church records on your computer screen.

It was http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/austhung.htm where 12 different languages were spoken. After the fall of A-H several new countries were formed and one was CzechoSlovakia which in 1993 separated into Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.

Čadca, Csacza, Czaca populated place 49°26' N 18°47' E E M U G Slovakia 116.9 miles NE of Bratislava 48°9' N 17°7' E

Koromľa populated place 48°43' N 22°18' E E M U G Slovakia 240.3 miles ENE of Bratislava 48°9' N 17°7' E

Most of the info you have posted I already have...George(Gyorgy) Kultan came here from Csacza, Hungary as well as Maria Tobola Kultan. They were already married before they came both passenger records state they came from Csazca. As far as the Capik and Tkacs I am not for sure where they are from because they have stated hungary, austria and Czechoslovakia on records. I am trying to find paretns names for them but have sent for death records.

I am searching any information on surname Geber (the last name may be slightly off due to passenger lists and census mistakes). I am also searching for any information on surname Eckl (the last name may be slightly off due to passenger list and census mistakes). This is what I know:
Therese Geber born abt 1875 (maiden name Eckl) came to America aboard the Deutschland in 1903 (port of departure Hamburg. She lived in New York and sent for her daughter Gizella Geber born 1893 and Ferdinand Geber born 1897 to come to American in 1906 (I have been told by relatives that Ferdinand Geber ended up going up, for reasons nobody in my immediate family can remember). In 1907 Therese and Gizella came back to Pizske, Hungary and brought Frances (she also went by Janni and Fanni) to America. They lived in New York until 1910 where they moved to Alamosa Colorado, Therese opened a cafe called Blanca Cafe. On 24 Jul 1912 Therese Geber was shot by a colt pistol by a man named Steven Edl inside of the dining area of the cafe. The man then went into the kitchen and put the gun to his temple and killed himself. I have no other information on this side of my family. If anybody knows amy information about the family that remained in Pizske, Hungary please email me at landisdn@q.com or reply to my post, I would love to share information.

Responding to your message from quite some time ago. Did you ever find a buyer for the Szanto Oszkar painting? If you're still interested in selling, I'd like to buy. You indicated that your painting had biographical data about the artist on the back of the piece. Do you still have the bio information? I would appreciate if you could respond.

In the real estate description text of the Buttler castle, in Erdotelek close to Gyongyos, recent sale (about $800,000), the Buttler lineage:

Buttler Janos, captain of Eger fortress started buying the property in smaller pieces after 1600. [The Buttler family origined from Islitz, Germany in the XVIth century, not ancient in Hungary, from the Erdotelke website below]

His adopted nephew, Buttler János Lajos received Grof (Graf or Count) title in 1714. [Started the construction in 1715, had 12 children, from the Erdotelke website below]

The property was handled by his son Buttler Gabor (could he be the Gabriel?) then his son Buttler Janos.

http://www.casa-mia.at/ungarn-immobilie.php/cPath/20/product...

"A birtokot 1600 után Buttler János egri várparancsnok több kisebb részből vásárolta meg. Örökbefogadott unokaöccse Buttler János Lajos 1714-ben grófi rangot nyert. A birtokot fia Gábor, majd az ő gyermeke Buttler János kezelte."

Erdotelek "A Buttler kastély" the Buttler Castle website:
http://www.erdotelek.hu/index.php?option=com_content&vie...

Two important Genealogy books "Nagy Ivan" and "Kempelen Bela", now on DVD from Arcanum.hu, both has the Buttler family listed with the asociated name Grof Pardanyi = Graf de Pardany. It should have the family tree drawings:

http://www.arcanum.hu/kiadvanyok/dvd/arcanum_dvd_konyvtar_iv...

The most famous John = Janos Buttler, a Baron, was captain of Eger, his picture painted by Miklos Barabas:

http://www.hung-art.hu/frames.html?/magyar/b/barabas/muvek/1...

The Hungarian National Archives has the family crest drawing, the Graf title given to Buttler János Lajos on
1712. június 18. by III. Károly = Charles

To see the picture, type in "buttler" in the search window, the first one of five entries:

http://www.arcanum.hu/mol/lpext.dll?f=templates&fn=main-...

In the fifth entry a Graf Eva Buttler name mentioned on the 1938 session of the Hungarian Parlament.

Hope this helps, let me know if have any question.
Joseph
