I am researching my natural mother's side of the family,
during WW2 my mother was living with her mother
Selma Sterbenz. Her mother was a violinist, and her full
name before Sterbenz was Selma Irmgard Schmidt, who
was a Luthern, and she md. Andres Von Hofflinger/Hoflinger.
His ancestry started back in the early 16th Century when
our was the court jester for the King, and he was given the
nobility of a Baron. When Andre's, brought up as a Catholic,
md. my grandmother, his family disowned him, and
he removed the Von from his last name.
Andres was born in Austria, and was a symphony orchestra
conductor, and in the early 20's opened the Gymnasium.
Andres had been wounded earlier during one of the wars, and
still had a bullet lodged inside of him, and during a musical
number which he directed, the bullet made its way up to his
heart/head, I 'm not sure, and killed him.
Selma lived in Szolnak, teaching violin lessons until I believe
the mid 1990's and passed away there.
During the war, the communist destroyed records, and
according to my mother the record keeper, knowing that
our grandmother was from nobility, to save her life, he
destroyed important records.
She also said she found one of the Hoflingers in Szolnak, and
so I ask that if anyone recognizes these names, I would
appreciate it.
My mother is 72 years old, and the mother of ten children,
20 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren,
I have four children, and my oldest is Sylvia Annette Naomi
Kovacs Tappa, and she has triplets, Matthew, Ashley, Alyssa
2 1/2 years old. I have twins Gena Margaret Elizabeth and
Jonathan Joseph David Sabido, and John William James
Sabido the youngest.
Thank you, Dianne Sabido
Oh! my mothers names is Helen Elizabeth Irmgard, Henrietta
Shirley, Von Hoflinger, Brady.
