It's along story, so I'll try to keep it short. I've been researching my Fathers Joseph Mack Family from Isztimer, Hungary.His real surname was Mak, but it changed overtime to Mak > Makk > Mack. In my files the name Mathias is also Matyas. Georgius is Gyorgy, Barbola is Barbara, Catharina is Katalin, Joannes is Janos.So in Hungary their names were changed. If you were German or Dutch you tried to keep Mak, but if you were German/Hungarian (Megyar) you use Makk. My Grandfathers surname was changed to Mack when he came to America @ 1899, but changed it back to Makk when he went back to Hungary in 1913, and died 1921. I hope this helps you.
