Hello! It was so nice to hear from you. I could find quite a bit on the Pangerts and Wolfs. They are in the Mezobereny Ortsfamilienbuch and I would be more than happy to copy any of the pages for you. I see that Magdalena Pangert was baptized on 16 Oct. 1888. Also I found Juliana Wolf who was the daughter of Johann Michael Wolf and Susanna Vogel. To make things easier, you can contact me at my e-mail address: rhughes5@rochester.rr.com. Please just let me know what you know and we can go on from there. We can go back several generations. It would be nice to present this info to your mother. My mother has been gone since 1970 and I so wish I could have gifted her with what I have learned about our ancestors. I am now 81--soon to be 82--and I have written our family history even though I continue to do research and entering names in our family tree. I completed the family history (a large book) because I wanted to make sure it would be in form easily read by my descendants and my living family before I left this beautiful earth. :) Looking forward to hearing from you--I hope I can help you find your roots.
Rose Mary Keller Hughes

I am so sorry for the long delay in replying. My life has taken many turns. I am also often on the move without internet access. My mom is Magdalena's daughter Margaret Pearl Lidolt Palko Hanas. She will be 93 this coming June. I told her of your reply and she is so very happy! My grandma died before I was born. She was killed by a automobile in March 1936. She also had a son born in Chicago, IL, USA. He was Arthur Martin Lidolt. He died in March of 2010. He was a bachelor with no children. Their father (Magdalena's husband) died in 1971. My mom Margaret had a total of 5 children. Only 2 of her children had children of their own who have no children. We are so sad because it looks like these Pangert/Lidolt descendents our the end of our family.

You're welcome. I have lots of cousins in the Bekes area and I do suspect they came from the Ukraine originally, I just haven't gone that far back yet. There are quite a few Bondars' in the US, mostly from Russia or the Ukraine. To my knowledge, our family isn't related to them.

Before I subscribed to Ancestry.com, I went on the FamilySearch website. I didn't see the link that you sent me though. That may be a new resource for me.

I probably have my relatives in Mezobereny completed. I was able to go back pretty far. I wasn't able to find out much about my relatives from Lendvahosszufalu, Hungary (now Slovenia). I will try this section of FamilySearch.

Thank you VERY MUCH!

My maternal grandmother was born in Mariaradna, today Radna in Arad county, Romania. Her paternal grandmother was Eva Vegner (sometimes written Vegner, Waegner or Wägner). She married Martinus/Marton Harmath, miller. They appear between 1863 and 1867 in Zimandkoz, today Zimandcuz. I cannot find their marriage. But there is one Eva Wegner, born 30 July 1816, at Glogovacz, Arad county. Her father was Michael Wegner, b. 16 May 1785, at Glogovacz, son of Johannes Wegner and Mariana Legl.

Wagner family in Mezobereny and Semlak

I recently purchased the Ortsfamilienbuch-Mezobereny from Michael Ledig. Fascinating book. I was able to trace my Wagner family back five generations from my grandfather whose family was from Mezobereny and moved to Semlak where he and his siblings were born. They moved back to Mezobereny between 1888 and 1891. My ancestors are also the Savenauers, Spiebs, Maabs, Malets, Dorrs, Glabs and Brauns. I would be interested in hearing from anyone in these families to see if we are somehow related or if you have any additional information. Especially about my 6th Great Grandpa Martin Wagner who may not have been a Wagner and may have had an alias (the name Balas). Thank you.

Hi,

When Helen and her son Arpad emigrated in 1906, they both listed their birthplaces as Gyula (which was their last residence, as well.) At the time of emigration, Arpad is 4 years old, so he was born in 1902, approximately.

His birth record should appear in the Civil Records of Gyula, Bekes, Hungary, which have been microfilmed and can be rented at your local Family History Center. This birth record should list his parents' names and their places of birth. You can then theoretically track each parent backward.

Here is a link:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/search/library_catalog#s...

Regards,

Chris Kovach

Durschlag, Kahn, Kohn

Looking for information for my grandparents who came from Gyula in 1906. I have the ship's manifests which shows that they both sailed out of Fiume (Croatia) at different times in 1906. My grandfather's name was Mihaly Durschlag. He sailed on the Pannonia and recorded that he came from Koraesso which doesn't exist. My grandmother is listed as Mihalysat Durschlag, although her Americanized name was Helen. She listed her town of origin as Gyula, which coincides with my father's memory of being told that they came from Bekesceba. There are other Durschlags in the area (within a day's journey) from previous years, but no one else from the Bekes region. Many Durschlags are listed from the mid-1700s from Slovakia then down through central Hungary and the Transylvania region of Romania.
My grandmother's maiden name was Kohn or Kahn. I don't know where they met or lived before marriage, but my guess would be that there was some relationship of my grandfather to Moricz and Lotti Durschlag of Nagyvarad (Oradea, Romania). Thank you. mdurschlag@gmail.com

Mezobereny PANGERT/ WOLF descendents

My grandmother was MAGDALENA PANGERT (born 1888 in mezobereny). Her mother was JULIANE WOLF (resided in mezobereny)and married a PANGERT. MAGDALENA had a brother ADAM PANGERT and a sister JULIA PANGERT. Magdalena later married Joseph Lidolt of Zadorlak, Arad, Hungary (later Romania)and then moved on to Argentina, South America and then the USA. I would love to hear from those who may be descendents of this Pangert or Wolf family.

Gershon

I would recommend posting on Ukraine's Ancestry and http://genforum.com
www.jewishgen.org
Try also www.ukraine.com/forums/genealogy
To me YUTKEWICH seems more like JUTKEWICZ. Take a listen http://say.expressivo.com
Josovics, Simon Lipezeniozo 26 1877 1903
Jakobovics, Rosa Huszt, Austria 17 1896 1913
Jukobovits, Bertha Huszt 20 1887 1907
Jukobovits, Maritz Huszt 3 1904 1907
www.surnamenavigator.org

I have relatives from the Huzst area named Bohm. I'd be interested in seeing if there are any common names. We have a Menachem Bohm and his father was Eliezer Bohm.

As for Yutkevich, I have a similar sounding relative - Josovics.
