My GGGrandmother was Edelka HUSZAR born MAR 09 1871. May have been born in Fõherceglak, district of Baranyavári, Baranya, Hungary. Her family must have been in high standing in the community. Edelka graduate from the Conservatory of Music and could play the piano like a concert pianist. (This information passed on my my 80 yrs old Aunt who stayed with Edelka when she was young.) The location of
the Conservatory is said to be in Budapest, but has not been confirmed yet.)
Edelka immigrated from Hungary to the US in 1889 and settled in BEXAR Co. TEXAS. Father may have been W. Huszar. There is a possibility they also lived in Wien too!
Her sister Katalin born 01 Oct 1857 location not confirmed but, may have been born in the same town. She was a practicing physician in the area and would travel to near by villages. She immigrated to the US in 1882 and settled in San Antonio, BEXAR CO. Texas. Katalin died 11 Apr. 1918 leaving a Will with information on some of her family.
I hope someone will recognize the names and locations. The following is the only facts I have at this time on the HUSZAR family. The "Will" reads as follows:
"to her niece Marie KREUTZER, and a Kotleri IRMA both of, Vörösmart, Baranyavári, Baranya AustriaHungrary. And, Anna WATZEK wife of Paul WATZEK of Neu Kettenhof, No. 42, Schwechat near Wien, Austria.
Edelka and Katalin had brothers and sisters in Hungary. Rumor has it the their father worked for the King or Government in charge of Forest lands. They lived in a large house with seven fireplace near a lake. In winter they would ice skate. There kitchen was a small house in the
back of the big house. They had servants and a cook. The girls were taught how to cook when they reached 15 years old.
Again, thank you for taking the time to read this message. If any of the surnames mentioned has every been associated with your family, please contact me. I'll be happy to share any information with you!
