Roman Catholic Church records for Futog are available online via Kalocsa diocese e-archive. You must pay a small fee to gain access to the digital images of the original records.

Here is more info on this e-archive:

http://www.rodoslovlje.com/forum/vojvodina/kalocsa-roman-cat...

Send me an email on yugaya@gmail.com if you have trouble registering with them (some people I helped had a bit of communication issues when emailing them in English, they do prefer communicating in Hungarian language).

Full birth, marriage and death records for the parish of Futog are available for the period 1826-1922 as well as a lot of additional records like school and church attendance records.

In this archive Futog parish is listed under its name in Hungarian language - ÚJFUTAK.

website of the archive:

http://archivum.asztrik.hu/

Other records that are available for your ancestors from Futog ( civil records, tax recors, land registers) are located in state archives in Serbia but these are not accessible online.

-att: from Kalocsa diocese e-archive, birth and baptism record for Ludovicus ( Lajos ) Kern, born 1883. in Futog, (then) Austria-Hungary, (now) Serbia.

***

"Rodoslovlje" Serbian Genealogy Society
www.rodoslovlje.com

Just friendly advice. Since Kern is mostly German Surname, if you didn't posted yet, post this message to the German and Austrian Forum Board. There is more chances that someone know something about this surname.

My great-Grandfather Lajos (Louis) Kern was born in 1883 in Futak, Hungary (now Futog, Serbia) He married a French lady named Suzanne Rennesson (I believe in Budapest, around 1909). He joined the French Foreign Legion in 1914 and was posted in Morocco (he never became a French citizen). I have been told that his first language was German and he may be related to the some Kern line in Germany. Any help on where to look for info on birth/marriage/military records would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Alistair

They lived in Stoystown, Pennsylvania and West Virginia where Steve worked as a coal miner. They later changed their last name to Pongras.
My grandfather's American name is Frank Letcher. I believe that he is the same person as Franyo Locser. I have been unable to find any information on him other than the immigration record from Ellis Island. He was born 6/1/1901 in Austria/Hungary. The age at arrival fits, and I know the name was changed from Loscer/Locser/Loscher to Letcher after they arrived in the US. The Letcher Family resided primarily in Brandywine, Maryland which is about 60-90 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Is the name Letcher familiar to you?

Thanks Chris!

I have the death certificates for Joseph Gaertner, Anna Gaertner, Michael Menches and Wilhelm Menches. Unfortunately, the mother and father names on Wilhelm's death certificate are marked as 'unknown'. ---

I also have the manifests of when they arrived in America, along with homesteading documents, as well as census records. With the changing of the city names, such as Klek, it is a mystery as to how to find people sometimes. I have also looked on the Stark, ND message boards and anything else I can find.

Thanks for the additional info on where to find more records!

In the 1910 census, Michael Menches and his wife Anna "Gardner" are in Stark county North Dakota, living with Anna's parents Joseph and Magdalina. Michael and Anna have been married for 2 years and have 1 child. Michael says he emigrated in 1907 and Anna in 1899, so I assume they got married in North Dakota.
Michael emigrated on the SS Astoria, arriving in New York on 16 July 1907. He has left his father Wilmos in Klekk, Torontal county, Austria and is coming to Gladstone, North Dakota to see his brother-in-law Janos Toth. Michael gives his last residence and birthplace as Klekk.
The Gardners all came over together on the SS Wilchad from Bremen, arriving in Baltimore on 20 May 1897. Their last residence is Joseffalva, Hungary and they are coming to Richardton, North Dakota to see Philip Weber.
If you go to the Stark County North Dakota message board you will find that other relatives have posted messages and have death certificates, marriage license applications, photos, etc.
Klek, Torontal was also known as Begafo and is now Klek, Serbia. The Roman Catholic Church records are in Klek, the Greek Orthodox in Jankahid, the Lutheran in Nagybecskerek and the Jewish records in Nagybecskerek.

There was a Joszeffalva in Zemplen county, that is now called Zemplinske Hamre, and is located in the Slovak Republic. I am not sure that this is the hometown of the Gaertners, but it's the only one listed in the 'Genealogical Gazetter of the Kingdom of Hungary'. The Roman Catholic Church records are in Sarospatak, the Greek Catholic records in Sarospatak, the Reformed Church records in Sarospatak, and the Jewish records in Sarospatak.

Chris Kovach

Im so excited to talk to you. there is without a dout a connection. I spoke to my father (Gerard, Oscar's son) and he said there isnt a question, he knew all the names you gave me. Joseph seems to be (as far as I can tell) Vencenzy's father .....so It would be Oscar dob 1900, vencenzy(came to america in 1895) and then joseph. how would have been proably been born around 1830-1850. Any way I have been working on a family site and would like you to join. here is the link http://www.myheritage.com/site-55801951/vaczy-family-web-sit... you are only able to see certain information. if you go on the site and email me through there I can invite you and you will be able to see more. Where are you located? are you in the USA? Whats left of Oscar's kids are still here in New England. I am looking forward from hearing from you.... :-) PS i have a newspaper artical inviting everyone to a reunion for the Grindle and Fisbee Family.. in ohio

Thanks for replying. We are definitely related somehow. I do not know how my Joseph Vatzy (that is how he spelled his name) is related to Oscar's family. I don't think he is the brother of Oscar because he would have been born some time around 1830 (I don't know for sure) He was married to Julia Fedor - they are my great, great grandparents. Their daughter was Otilia and she married John Grindle. Her DOB is Oct. 31. 1856. I have some names in our old family reunion book. Oscar is one of them. Apparently the family from Lynn used to come here to Akron to visit the family. Hope that we can discuss further. My family tree program is on the fritz at the moment. I have gotten most of my info from online obituaries and death certificates.

I don't have any specific interest in this family. I don't have any info on this family; I just look over the posts on the Hungary message board and try to help people, if I can, by finding US census records, passenger lists, etc.
It's my understanding that the LDS wasn't able to microfilm records in Romania, but I might be wrong. You might want to post on the Romania message board.
Good luck!
Chris

Unfortunately, there are probably lots of Scheibels and Schillingers from Austria, Hungary and Romania.

If you could provide birth and death dates and locations for some of your relatives, it would help narrow the search.

If you know where they were in 1900, 1910, 1920,and/or 1930, that would be helpful also. A census record might say which country they came from and when they emigrated.

If we could find a military record in the US, it might give a birth town.

But we need to know who we're looking for.

Chris Kovach

Did this relative emigrate to the US? If so, have you looked at the ellis island record? Depending on the timeframe, they would be asked their birthplace.
Chris Kovach

Hello, i'm looking for a lost paternal lineage of Gustav Adolph Bujkovsky (Gusztav Bujkovszky). Any help or further info would be great!!!

Here's what I have so far that my grandfather had done in the early 70's.

Gusztav Adolph was married to Roza Borbola Balint (b.1883) who is desended from Florain Balint (b. 2/2/1858) and Borbola Szarvas (b.8/26/1860). The above were all born in Kiskunfeleghaza, Hungary excpet it is unknown about Gustav Adolph.

Gustav Adolph and Roza Borbala gave birth to Gustav Joseph in Periam, Timis (now Perjamos) on 10/25/1915.

Gustav Adolph had a father with the same first name and he was a Bishop in Romania, i'm not sure where.

Any help on finding info on Bujkovszky's paternal lineage is much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
I was searching through the website for family information and I stumbled on this query -- my family (Tasch) emigrated to St. Louis, Missouri about that time. My great grandfather was from Germany originally, but I know my family has Hungarian roots.

Hello,

I tried the Radix forum for hungarian genealogy with no success.
http://www.bogardi.com/gen/
I tried the 1882, 1913 gazetteer with merely looking at "mer" or "mér" discounting everything else with no luck.
Again using the Radix forum I tried their current online search again with the same approach and you can see the results below.

Results of search for [mer] : accent mark is stripped
Place name Status County
Kisbudmér village (község) Baranya
Nagybudmér village (község) Baranya
Kelemér village (község) Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén
Sajómercse village (község) Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén
Szemere village (község) Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén
Pusztamérges village (község) Csongrád [megye]
Bodmér village (község) Fejér
Isztimér village (község) Fejér
Gyôrladamér village (község) Gyôr-Moson-Sopron
Gyôrszemere village (község) Gyôr-Moson-Sopron
Répceszemere village (község) Gyôr-Moson-Sopron
Bagamér large village (nagyközség) Hajdú-Bihar
Mezôszemere village (község) Heves
Tarnaméra village (község) Heves
Kaposmérô village (község) Somogy
Velemér village (község) Vas
Zalamerenye village (község) Zala
