I have been researching my family tree for several years and have been quite successful, but I am running into problems regarding my great grandfather's family from Schlesien. Does anyone have any tips or advice on finding records for the former ethnic Germans that lived in Silesia when it was under German control? The part that my great grandfather came from is currently in Poland. It is now Rudna, Powiat lubiński, Województwo dolnośląskie. I have researched Schleswig-Holstein and I am familiar with the Civil Registry or Standesamt, Church Records and Census; however, I am at a loss as what records are available for former German residents in Poland. All I have for my great grandfather is a marriage license which lists his birth year (1877) and birth place (Raudten) along with the names of his parents, Henriette Von Goldner and Rudolph Von Lohberg. I am also fairly certain that the family was Lutheran - not Catholic, so I don't know if there are chuch records available. Are there equivalent registry offices in Poland similar to the German Standesamt that would have vital records for German speaking people?
Any help would be appreciated.
