My mother is a Schwieters, but we know very little about her lineage into the 'old' country. I read your story to her and she said that her father's middle name was Bernard, and I've got a generation going to Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, but I'm unsure. I'll tell you what I know.

Joseph Schwieters (B: 1883, D: 1954) lived and died in Minnesota. His father, Hermann S Schwieters (B: 1842, D: 1910), immigrated from Germany at the age of 20 and settled in Minnesota.

I cannot connect my oldest reletive, Hermann, and yours, Bernard, but it seems they are Schwieters from the same area in Germany. Mom and I were doing the math, and Hermann couldn't have been Bernard's son, but perhaps a grandson if anything.

Thanks for posting, I'm interested in meeting Schwieters as well, since my Grandfather Bonnifice died quite young and disconnected us from that side of the family.
