John and Catherine Trossen family started arriving in the US
about 1867/68. In the 1900 census Catherine says she had 9 children. At least 4 of those came to the US, spent a year or more in IL and then moved to MN. Those children were: John Jr., Casper, Elizabeth Junglen, and Jacob. The only records I can find say they were from Prussia. The first I've found Catherine in this country was in the 1880 census don't know if John died in this country or before. Any and all help appreciated.

Dear Janet, I am a 3rd great-granddaughter of John Trossen that came from Prussia. The following is information that I have on Catherine (John's wife).
"Catherine and John may have married in the middle to late 1830's. After she was widowed, she and her grown children came to America. They did not come together but traveled at different times over a period of several years from about 1866 to as late as 1879. Each of them spending a year or two in Illinois before coming to St. Cloud, MN.
In the 1880 federal census of Stearns County, Catherine is living with her daughter, Elizabeth Junglen, and family. In the 1892 St. Cloud city directory and in later state and federal census records, she can be found living with her son, Jacob, and his family."

Double check all baptismal marriage and death records in the churches.
They often give the name of the town.
