However vague the information given the date 1871 is obviously of importance. Prior to Bismarck's unification of the
German states in 1870(?) Prussia was an independent kingdom, after that date it was a kingdom within the
German Empire which meant many people claimed to have come from "Germany" even though they still lived in
Prussia, while others would say they came from
Prussia when they actually came from Germany (
German Empire). I would also think that perhaps the enquirer has mixed up the Seine with the
Rhine, which is spelled
Rhein in
German and although I cannot think of a town with a name ending in "camp" offhand it could be worth getting a good map of the
Rhein and taking a look at the towns along the northern part before it enters Holland because a large part of that area was part of
Prussia
