Looking for my Affeldt ancestors in Arnsfelde.

Supposedly Karl Ludwig Affeldt & Maria Schueller had 2 sons that we are aware of. Family Lore suggests there are more sons & daughters who may have stayed in Pommern with their parents to run a business the family was associated with.

Hermann Affeldt -(given name may be other than Hermann) born April 10, 1834 in Arnsfelde. He fled around 1860-61 with nothing but clothing on his back. Settled in Ill & Wisconsin. Whether he married & had children in Pommern is unknown.

Gustav Affeldt b. October 29, 1841 Arnsfelde- he married prior to 1867 to a Wilhelmine Schewes. We know of 5 children from this Union.
Ernestine or Ernstine b Jan 29, 1867 Arnsfelde, Wilhelmine b April 13, 1872, Louis b. Abt. 1874, Herman C. Affeldt b. August 12, 1875, Pauline Affeldt birth date UNKNOWN.

Around 1879-80 in Berlin Gustav remarried to a Wilhelmine Garske born Berlin in abt 1847.

A son born in Berlin -- August Affeldt April 13, 1881.
Their next child Ida was born in Wis. in 1885.

In abt 1884 they set sail for Cook County,Ill. where they resided a few months then set out for Outagamie County, Wisconsin .

Would love to be in contact with anyone researching this line, or who knows of Affeldt families in & around this area of Pommern.

Thank you,
Kathy

I may be mistaken but you give the impression that you think Pomerania (Pommern) still exists. Pommern is now part of Poland and almost without exception Germans were expelled in 1945. Any Affeldts have probably been living almost anywhere in modern German for nearly 60 years. Deutsch Krone is now Walcz - I do not know of an Arnsfelde (not to say there wasn't one) but there was an Arnswalde which is now Choszczno

Belinda,
I am aware that Pommern is no more-But others may not be aware of that fact.

There are 2 or 3 Arnsfeldes in Prussia or Germany. To distinguish them from each other I included the exact area they came from.

I am trying to find out if anyone had Affeldt ancestors from that area in my time frame.

I do know the name has undergone a change but unsure what it is without finding the website again & checking it out.

Maybe I should post in Poland also just to play it safe.
Thank you,
Kathy

My great grandfather was August Affeldt. I know little about him. He married Mary Agnes Patton. August died around 1930. Please contact me if you think this is the same August.

What part of USA or Germany were your Affeldts from?

Any info might be helpful.

If you are still out there looking - my great great grandfather August Affeldt married Mary Patton, I don't have very much info on them either. They had a daughter and some sons. A few of the children married into the same family - there are two sisters still living in that family I have been meaning to talk with. I have more written down at home.
