Dorothea Sophia Augustine Filter is my great-great-great-grandmother who was possibly born in Stargard, Pommern, Germany on October 29, 1811. I have been trying to find out what her maiden name was. I was recently going through some old German Pomeranian church records for villages in the county (Kreis) of Pyritz in Pomerania. I found the birth record for my great-great-grandfather Johann David Filter (Dorothea Sophia's oldest child) in the record book for Neu Prilipp, Kreis Pyritz, Pommern (Pomerania), Germany. It said that he was born on January 7(?), 1836 in Neu Prilipp, Kreis Pyritz, Pommern, Germany. I have a book written by Faye (Von Hausen) Filter Stevens of Polk, Nebraska called "The Filter Heritage" published in June 1982. In that book, it says that Johann was born on January 1, 1836 in West Prussia. Johann David is called "John Fredrick" in "The Filter Heritage" book by Faye Stevens. I found a Wisconsin state census record (1905) that said he was born in "New Pselip" (Neu Prilipp) Pomerania, Germany. So I looked up his birth record in the church record books for Neu Prilipp and found out that his name was really Johann David Filter, that he was born on January 7, 1936 and that his parents' names were Christian Friedrich Filter and Dorothee Sophie Reuter. My question is: Is Reuter the maiden name of Dorothea Sophia Augustine Filter, born on October 29, 1811 in Stargard, Pommern, Germany? I would like to find out so I can put it in my family records.
