I am sorry for the delay in responding - thank you thank you for your great help!
Your information is so very wonderful - I have been wondering about this side of the family for a long time. (Carolina Meyer is my great, great grandmother)
Gerhard Heinrich and his wife (that I know now is Anna Regina Gerdrut) had three daughters in addition to their son J Freidrich. The family left Germany and moved to Huntingburg, Dubois, Indiana in the US around 1842.
Gerhard died 31 March 1865 in Huntingburg, Dubois, Indiana - Gerdrut died in 1881.
The daughters were:
Anna Maria Engel Meyer, b. 1834 - d. 1905 (married Claus Heins)
Carolina L Meyer b. 1832 - d.1929 (married Johann Friedrich Klostermann)
Maria Elise Meyer b. 1831 - d. 1892 (married Bernard Hoffhaus)
Where the sisters say they came from is often different from document to document. Some places they state Hüsede as their birthplace, others say Muttlagen, Husetten, Megrages, or Hannover, or other places. I can not find these places (other than Hüsede and Hannover) on a map - I think they must be poor English transcriptions of real places.
I find it very interesting that they moved to Hungtingburg here in the States, and they lived so close to Hunteburg in Germany!

Thank you so much!!!
