While tracing my Spellman ancestors in the area of Osnabruck, it was discovered that the name had been Lange then Spellman. Trying to find out why (thinking that he may have acquired land that had been Spellman land) it was discovered that this same person was also referred to as Eickman (or unter der Eichen). Someone is looking at land records but all that has been found is reference to all three of these names for one man. He was married several time, maybe as many as 4 times, and none of his wives were name Spellman, Eickman or Lange. Does anyone have an answer to this puzzle? Thank you.
