My great-grandfather was Wasyl Korczynski who was born on 22 July 1893 in Korczyn, Galicia, Austria. At some point he went to Bremen, Germany and boarded the ship George Washington for Ellis Island, New York. He arrived at the port of New York on September 22, 1912. His name was subsequently changed to William Harry Corchinski.
I heard he came to New York with a brother Theodore. I know there was a Bynko Korcsynski who also came on the George Washington.
In any event, Wasyl Korczynski settled in Connecticut and married Elsie May Pierce. Does anyone know of a Korcznski family in Korczyn, Galicia, Austria that I can contact to see if we are related. I know Wasyl Korczynski spoke several languages including German, Yiddish, Russian and Polish. His father may also have been named Wasyl or whatever name would translate into Harry and his mother's name would translate into Anne.
