Wouldn't it be nice if people who filled out lists back in the day, did so with beautifully legible handwriting?
Well, like another post I saw, I have a problem reading this:
http://interactive.ancestry.com/7488/NYT715_253-0065/4040391...He's Line 10, Ermel, Martin. They wrote Galicy (which in later documents are Galicia, Austria) but what is that in Line 10 Column 9? For extra credit, can any of you read Line 10 Column 16? I'm only seeing Fair Ethical Bunker Benjamin Beer. Heh. Obviously that isn't right.
Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated!
ETA: Okay about Col. 16. I think on closer inspection it's ? Ermel, brother, Balgonie, ? (probably Canada). I can't figure out that first name though.
ETA Part II: I meant to add that this man said he was from Galicia Austria until WWII, then he began saying Germany. I am geographically challenged and I've tried looking at maps until I'm cross-eyed. Now I know this document could be a port city, but dear Galicia experts, what part of Galicia would have been Austrian pre-WWII and Germany post-WWII? I'm trying to narrow down his origins too.
