I cannot help with your research, but you are wrong in the message board. East Prussia is hundreds of miles away from Gurkow, which was in County Friedeberg in the Neumark area of the Prussian province of Brandenburg, ca. 50 km east of the Oder river and the city of Frankfurt/Oder. Frankfurt/Oder is German, but the Oder river is the German-Polish border. All areas east of the Oder river are part of Poland today. The areas west of the Oder river are German and part of the federal state of Brandenburg.
Today Gorkow/Gorki Noteckie is part of the town of Zwierzyn.See "http://www.zwierzyn.pl/content.php?cms_id=18&lang=pl&...", but you need a polish translation.
Here is the address of the administration, but I cannot say whether they understand English:
Gmina strzelecko-drezdenecki,
ul. Wojska Polskiego 8,
66-542,
Zwierzyn,
Poland
