Their earliest responses stated Bohemia was their origin. That was what they said in 1878 on their ship log and also in the 1880 census.

I have to assume that the reason they stated Germany and Austria later had to do with what was going on politically in Europe. It seems obvious to me that they started out liviing in Bohemia but that they were probably German Ethnically.
