Hi! I was pretty excited to log in today and see that someone was researching my great-grandfather, Mathias Kump... My mother's paternal grandparents were Mathias Kump (born 31 Aug 1895) and Josefa/Sophie Oswald (born betw. Apr. & Jun 1897). The details I had on Sophie were sketchy beyond piecing together her birth date from census and passenger records, but she was definitely born in Tiefenthal (noted on the passenger list as "Vrbovez," a misspelling of the Slovenian name of the town, Vrbovec). I also found them on the 1920 and 1930 censuses, and Mathias in the World War I draft card list (which is why I noticed your work today). I know they both died after 1944 because that's when my mother was born and she remembers both of them, but she can't remember exactly when they died.
It would appear we're cousins, although I certainly can't manage the calculation on 1st/2nd/3rd/whatever. Nice to meet you. :) I don't know how sharing works in here, but I'll check it out and I can send you the links for the above sources if you're interested, or you can just check out my family tree. Unfortunately I live in New Jersey, not Europe, but it's still nice to find new family.
Regards,
Brendan
