Linda, I found a much more readable copy of John's Petition for Naturalization and have the image to send to you. The information in the main Petition does certainly differ a little bit from the information on the Declaration of Intention. The Petition also was prepared in a very clear typed version. I have that image for you also. Send your email address to my Ancestry inbox and I will email them to you. These images are much more readable. Below is the information from both documents:

PETITION FOR NATURALIZATION
Witnessed/Dated August 11, 1916
Filed August 11, 1921
NOTE** Signed by John himself. The signature is roughly scribbled and no a mark as it was in the Declaration dated 1919. One can only speculate, but from personal experience, for a person to only have an ability to sign by mark - X - one year, and only improve to such a rough scribble 2 years later, is an indication he may have suffered an injury more serious than a broken limb. Perhaps a stroke.

NOTE** John states here that his wife, Alice, resides in Austria at this time. Thee name has also changed from Natalia. That would be something to look into, since he lists his son, Michael, as being born in 1920 in Old Forge, PA.

I typed this fairly quickly and it's about 2am here, so please forgive any obvious errors I've made. I will get those images to you and you can review them yourself. You will be able to read them.
