Hello,

I am seaching for my SATTLER relatives that were in Tadten, Austria. The Sattlers were farmers who immigrated to Austria after the 30 Years War from Germany. My great-great grandfather was Franz SATTLER. He was born on January 20, 1858 in Tadten, Austria. He married Marie LAZARUS, who was born on May 30, 1863 in Tadten, Austria. They had 13 children, only 8 of which survived to adulthood. Franz died on April 13, 1927 at the age of 69. Marie died on November 2, 1940 at the age of 77. Below are the 8 children that I know of.

Franz SATTLER, was born in 1882 and died in 1928. He married a Teresia and had 5 children.

Johann SATTLER, was born in 1884 and died in 1915 in the First World War. He married a Hedwig and had two children.

Martin SATTLER, was born on September 23, 1887 and immigrated to the United States before moving to Canada and dying on March 25, 1966. He married Mary SATTLER, and had one child.

Andreas SATTLER, was born in 1889 and died in 1959. He married a Teresia and had 5 children.

Matthius SATTLER, was born on July 8, 1892 and immigrated to Canada in 1912 shortly after the sinking of the Titanic. He married a Swiss girl, Louise WILLI, and they had two children, Matthew and Frank. Frank was my grandfather.

Michael SATTLER, was born in 1897 and died in 1916 in the First World War.

Paul SATTLER, was born in 1899 and died in 1980. He married Hedwig, his brother, Johann's widow. They had 5 children.

Herman SATTLER, was born on March 25, 1902 and immigrated to Canada. He married Mary HODEL and they had 2 children. He died on April 19, 1986.

If anyone has more information on this family it would be much appreciated.

Thank You,

Kyle SATTLER

Hello Kyle,
Before 1920 Tadten was part of Hungary, today in Austria, very close to the Hungarian border. On this map of Hungary, in the border region, the placenames are in both German and Hungarian, I set the crosshair on Todten/Mosonteteny, Gols/Galos is a bit north from it:
http://www.terkepcentrum.hu/index.asp?go=mapszarvashu2&s...

You can search the Church records at LDS(Mormons)/FHLC FamilySearch.org - Family History Library Catalog http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.a...

1827-1895 Roman Catholic Church register of births, marriages and deaths for Tétény, Moson, Hungary, later called Mosontétény, Hungary, now Tadten, Burgenland, Austria.

If the religion was Luth./Evang., search for Galos, where the church was located:
1826-1895 Parish register transcripts of baptisms, marriages and deaths for Gálos, Moson, Hungary; now Gols, Burgenland, Austria. Text in German.

I hope this helps,
Joseph

Hello Joseph,
Thank you very much. I checked out the Mormons website and found an abundance of information. I found out that we have a branch library right near by. I searched for the towns and found Tadten. They have church records on microfilm. I printed off all of the microfilm numbers and plan to visit the library soon. Your information was very helpful. I hope I will be able to use this to find more on my SATTLER relatives.

Thanks,
Kyle
