Right now it's just an egg hunt. My ancestor Benedict Caspari has his birth place listed as "Celle Prussia" on one document, "Zell" on another, and "Koblenz" on another. He married in a Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for his first marriage and a courthouse in Madison for his second, however he does not appear to have been a very religious person so easily could have been raised Catholic back in Prussia. Furthermore, there's another Caspari family (Grant County) that was Catholic so a remote possibility that they were related somehow. Benedict was born in 1826 and the church records in Zell (which is near Koblenz) stop at 1798 (nothing later) so even if I were to look through the microfilm, I will not find his birth record. I was hoping to find other church records that might contain his birth record if he actually was born near Zell, and not in Zell.
Am coming to the conclusion that I should probably pursue civil records instead of church records.....
