I just got some immigration papers for my husbands 3 great grandfather, Jacob Hermann born April 15, 1804. Someone on another message board told me the paper says he lived in Ems. His wife was Anna Marie Negans or Gans born December 11, 1814. On US census she listed Darmstadt as where she was from. I have heard that people usually marry in the brides town. The date on this paper is April 1837 and their first child was born in the America in 1839.

They were Catholic in America so assume they must have been while in Germany too.

Does anyone have access to marriage or other records they could check for me for either Jacob or Anna Marie.
