I read the above and your other messages with interest as one of my ancestors, Johann Michel Huth, was a baker in Engelstadt, just a few kilometers from Wachenheim. He was born in 1696 so, who knows, may have been an apprentice of Johan Niclaus. If you haven't already done so, suggest that you go to http://www01.telauskunft.de, look up Wachenheim, look up the names you are researching, and then write to them. I did this, hit the jackpot on my first try, and my relatives in Engelstadt have looked up two more generations of my family. Don't worry about writing in German, almost every family in Germany has someone who can read English. Good luck!
