I am a descendent of a Stuber family who emigrated to America in 1837. My ancestors moved first to Ohio and then to Iowa in the mid-1840’s. My ancestor who came to
America in 1837 was named Peter Stuber and he married a woman named Catherine Geres (it might be Gehres). Peter was born May 10, 1806, I believe in Odenbach. Catherine Geres/Gehres was born May 13, 1807, I believe in Grumbach. When they arrived in the United States, they were members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, where I found christening records for other members of their families. They had 7
children, the first 2 of whom were born in Germany and in the official records I have list their place of birth as Rhine River Valley, Prussia. Their names were: Abraham,
Catherine, Peter, Charlotte, Phillip, Frederick and William.
I would appreciate if anyone has information on my Stuber/Gehres/Geres families.
