Hello..I recently discovered that my GGrandfather, Arjen RUSSMANN was born in Dornum,Hannover in 1858. His father's name was Herman.Mother's name unknown. Believe he had a brother Haro( or Hero) b. 1850...uncertain of the birth city. Arjen emigrated to the US in 1873,according to the 1900 and 1910 Chicago census', settling in Chicago by 1879..Unable to find Passenger List for Arjen and family. No record of the family on Tazewell County Illinois.

Arjen married Katharina FRIEDERICHS, b. Esens, 1856, in Chicago in 1883.

The RUSSMANN surname doesn't seem to be too common in Ostfriesland..or for that matter, in the province of Hannover .Know the family were Lutherans.

Any suggestions? Have looked at surname spelling variations..I have Ancestry,com subscription and have searched New Orleans Passenger Lists available on line and Germans to America..no info found.
