Looking for information about Reinert Swalve who married Jennie Arends in Ostfriesland, Germany. My grandparents were
Arend Arends and Geeske (Klinghagen) Arends. Arend was born in Wymeer, Germany on 01/29/1876.
Geeske was born on 10/25/1877
I believe Jennie Arends was a sister to my gr. grandfather.
any information would be appreciated.
Thanks, Alvera Klosterboer

Have you joined forces with the other researcher doing this same line, four queries down? The OSBs for Wymeer and Landschaftspolder give no additional information on either family, but there were Swalve families in the Bunde and Weener church records. These films are available from the LDS and have not been extracted into the IGI.

My great grandfather was Reinhardt Swalve 2nd wife, Jennie Arends, daughter of Arrend Arends & Grietje Onnen Arends. I have been looking for years for information on my g.grandfather but it is possible that the first name has been given to me spelled incorrectly since you have it recorded as Reinirt.

I have been doing research on micro film and have found information on the births, baptisms of Jantje (Jennie) and some of her siblings. So far I have not found an Arend but will research further. I think the last year covered was 1875.

Thank you for applying to my message. I am looking for anyone that may have information about any of these families.
Jennie Arends was a sister to my grandfather, Arend Arends. He was married to Geeske Klinghagen.
My grandparents, Arend and Geeske came from Germany on the Ship "George Washington." They came in October of 1923,
with their family of seven children. They settled near Clara City, MN.
I would like to hear from you and exchange information.

Hi,
I am sorry but, don't know if I replied to your message or not. I have been off the Internet and on because I have been having Computer problems.
I would love to find out what you have though. I may not have spelled Reinardt right, as I have not found much on him.
Do you know when they came to Iowa and on what ship they came on? Also did anyone else come with them, that you know of? You can write directly to me at grammak@tds.net

I was wondering if you found any more info on Reinert Swalve. I believe he was my great grandfather also with Jennie Ahrends. My grandfather's name is Arend Swalve who married Sena Korte in Iowa. I believe Reinert died in 1900 and Jennie married a John Swalve (don't know the relationship to Reinert) and immigrated to the USA by way of Baltimore having 4 more children with John. My father's name was Arnold Swalve. If you have any more information let me know.

I know that Reinhard died in Germany 01/07/1900. Jantje
Arends and Reinhard were narried 12/4/1894. Jantje Arends
was born 16/Jul/1867.
I can remember your grandfather and grandmother. They used to come and vist my parents quiet often. When we lived north of Brooten, MN.
I haven't been able to find anything on John Swalve. Have you found out anything else?
I would be glad to hear from you. I would like to have a picture of your grand parents if you wouldn't mind sharing.
e-mail me at grammak@tds.net

Sorry but I never got your message until today.
Reinhard and Johann (John) were cousins. Reinhard died Jan 7, 1900 in Germany. He married Jantje (Jennie) Arends April 12, 1894 and they had two children: Anna & Arend. When Reinhard died Jennie married John and they had three children: Henry, Gerhardt (George) and Jeanette. I do have more info but don't have time to post it today. We visited with Arend and Sena a lot when I was young and lived in Iowa. I have met your father but it has been many years since I've seen him.

Hi,
Glad to hear from you again. I hope we can share information.
When you were saying Reinhard and Johann were cousins, were you talking about Johann Arends? He never went by the name John,he always went by Joe. I have a few pictures here too that I do not know who they are. I think they are marked Swalve and Rippentrop cousins.
I don't remember meeting Tillie but, then I don't remember ever going to Arend and Sena's either. They used to visit us often though and they would come and visit the
folks at Uncle Fred and Aunt Grace Steckers in Lakota, Iowa. Did you know the Steckers?
Do you know who the John that married Jennie, belonged too? I have be searching but haven't come up with anything on him.
You can E-Mail me directly At grammak91@gmail.com
Thanks,

This may be your Swalve ancestor you were looking for in your message. I am looking through the Bunde records and have not gotten far enough to find a marriage record for Reinhard to confirm the relationship. Maybe this can help with your search.

1847, page 417, # 106 Reinhard Johann, son of Jan Geerds Viennen Swalve, farmer, and Okkea Jurrina Deterts Gruis, born in Bunderhee on 13 November, 10 hours, baptized 9 December

This was the first Reinhard (or variation) Swalve I have found in Bunde. It's possible he may have died and there might be another child with the same name born later into his family.

Both the Swalves and Gruis from Bunde are my ancestors. Let me know if you are looking for more information on them. Good luck with your research.
