Renate,
My wife is thrilled to finally find out where her g-g-g grandfather was born. All we have known before was "Osnabruck" . We figured he was born near Osnabruck, and to now know it was Bohmet is just great. You found the correct family. The marriage date of 16 April 1812 is exactly what we have. We also have the names of Johan and Anna's 11 children born in Germany, and the three you identified. The historical information we have is that son Johann Heinrich, b. 26 Aug 1828, died that same year and that Johann Christ b. 18 Dec 1834, died, but his date of death is unknown. Son Franz H. is the only one that lived.. We have the same date of birth, 01 Dec 1821 for him. My wife descends from him.
The 1836 date refers to the year of immigration for Franz and his parents Johan and Anna. What is really sad is that after they arrived in the U.S., Johan & Anna had 4 more children, 1837, 1838, 1839, & 1840, and all of them died before age 4. Out of 15 births, only Franz survived to adulthood.
Our family records show that Johan H. was born to Johann Friederich Greve and Maria Elizabeth Schwertmann. Ann Marie's parents were Phillip Friederich Trame and Marie Elizabeth Scheider.
We have no dates of birth for them, nor marriage records.
How did you access the diocese of Osnabruck records? I requested a search of the records last year and was told they could not find Johan Greve. They must have missed him.
Thanks again.
Jon and my wife Jill
