I doubt that there was a single German town of origin for all Bueter families. There were several Bueter groups attending just St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Louis in the mid-19th century, and they didn't all seem to associate with one another: Reinhard Bueter, Clemens Bueter, Joseph Bueter, Tobias Bueter. Of these, only Tobias and Joseph were brothers, both sons of Tobias Bueter and Adelaide Feldhaus. If you want all data on these, let me know and I'll send as an email attachment.
