Good morning,

I have just been able to connect my family (Falkenhagen) to a specific village/town in Mecklenburg: Wichmannsdorf, near Klutz. My Falkenhagen ancestors emigrated to Canada in the 1850s.

The excitement began to fade as I realized how little information there is about this place. My next step is to get my hands on the parish records, but in the meantime I'm hoping to get some general information about the area.

I'm wondering if anybody knows anything about this town. Does the region have any history? What did the people do? Perhaps there is some literature or a website to which I could be directed that would have some answers. Clearly, language will be an issue for me, as I do not speak German, but I would be able to translate webpages.
