I am researching Charles Ferdinand Boldt born 1848 Pommer, Germany. His parents were Martin Ferdinand and Christina Boldt. Charles immigrated to America in the 1870's and married Whilheminia Engfer in 1876 Minnesota. Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kurt Boldt

I don't know if its a match or not but two of my PIEHL brothers married BOLDT sisters. Otto PIEHL married Elizabeth BOLDT. He died on March 13, 1969 in Arlington, South Dakota. His brother Henry PIEHL married first Polly BOLDT and second Matilda BOLDT (keep it in the family I guess). I do have that Elizabeth BOLDT was born July 18, 1892 in Arlington, SD and died on April 15, 1982 in Arlington, SD. Her parents names were Fred G. BOLDT and Carolyn ABRAHAM. Sorry I don't have much more concrete. I do remember seeing the BOLDT name quite a bit in LDS films I've looked at for northern germany.

I am just beginning to research my Boldt family genealogy. You referred to Elizabeth and Polly Boldt. They are my great aunts and I knew them growing up in Arlington, SD. I have never heard of Henry's second wife, Matilda. Do you know if she is related to Elizabeth and Polly? Would appreciate any other Boldt family history you might have.

Hi Donna and Doug! I am great grandaughter of Paulina "Polly" (BOLDT) and Henry John PIEHL brother of Otto. Polly was sister to Elizabeth, double cousins.

Henry's 2d wife, Tillie (Mathilda) BOLTE, from MN. Surnames are BOLDT, Blote and BOLTE. Absolutely no relation to BOLDT (sometimes BOLT), or Blote other than by marriage. It gets confusing. I'm still looking for more info on Tillie and Henry in MN.

Gotta keep it short today,

Relatively Yours, Cousin Beth

HI, just checking old posts and being descended from Henry Piehl and Polly Boldt I know that there was a divorce and Henry remarried a Mathilda "Tillie" BOLTE. I just so happens that Polly's eldest daughter, Hazel Piehl married Erwin Louis BLOTE. Coincidence of spellings is odd but Blote is not a popular surname as I've been looking for new information for a decade or more. However recently I pulled up an Ancestry.com record whose index was for BLOTE but immigration lists was typed "BOLTE". I don't know how to go about proving if it is a mispelling for my BLOTE family or whether to advise them their index is incorrect. You know how it goes. So there is the story on Tillie and they were living in Truman, MN until Henry's death. I wonder if they had other children? I don't know anything more and this information was told to me by Gramma Hazel Blote. She had kept good records of all the names in the family for which I will be ever-greatful. I don't think she ever saw her Father again after the divorce. Henry, however, is buried with the Piehl's in Arlington Cemetery, SD. Thank you all, Beth Blote blotebeth at earthlink.net

I am also researching Charles Boldt. I dont know if this is the same Charles Boldt that you are researching but I have named my son Boldt Lindfors. My almost 94 year old great-grandma was telling me names from our history and when she told me the name boldt i loved it so i named him it. She told me that he was like a bodyguard for whoever was in power in Germany at the time and he had a brother named August. She remembers a lot at her age and seems to remember him pretty good so she might be able to answer any questions if its the same Charles Boldt and if you can tell me anything you know or guide me in the right direction. Maybe we can help eachother.

I understand there is a Boldt Castle just off New York Island, the history might be interesting to you.
