Looking for ANYTHING on my gggrandmother who emigrated to Australia in 1855.She was on the "Goldfinder " which left England 1854.She was aged 15 or 16.Her father was listed as a gardener on her death cert.Does anyone know how to access the deaails from the pass lists when she would have boarded in England.
She is a REAL mystery.

Kuhrfurch -- was this ever a city, town or district in Hessen? I can't find any record of it, but it supposedly was the birth place of an ancestor in the 1770's.

It may have been somewhere near Hildersheim, Lower Saxony.

Looking for info about my German heritage.
My GGGF was Ernst Fili, born 1836 in Alsfeld Darnstadt or Hessen Darnstadt. He arrived in Philadelphia abt 1857 with his wife Mary, born 1833 in Hanover Germany. His occupation was barber. They proceeded to have a very,very large family.
I have no idea of how to go about research from german records.
Please help!

Looking for ancestors/descendants of Johann Conrad Dauer b Aug 1776. Married 14 Feb 1764 to Maria Eva Dieffenbach b 1739. Have done my direct line, now working laterally trying to connect to other DAUER groups in Germany and US. I have a large collection of DAUER records 1650 through late 1800s. Using LDS films to fill in the blanks. Would love to hear from any DAUER researchers working in these areas: Wisper, Springen, Wiesbaden, Kemel. Meanwhile, I'll keep digging.

I just found some of my cousins still living in hessen by using the german phone book as already sugested. I looked up the surnames wrote out a letter in German and included some old photos I had and any names, I also included my email address. I had posted out about 20 letters and recieved one reply from my cousin still living in the same town of Schenklengsfeld. She has put me in contact with two other cousins and is helping me with records and pictures of headstones.Best of luck with your search.

My greatgrandfather, Georg SCHAMBACH, was born in Bensheim in 1824 to Theobald and Catharina (DORN) SCHAMBACH. Georg emigrated to the US in the mid 1800s and settled in York Co., PA.

Brian,

My problem is that I don't know for sure which limb the Hessian soldier was from. I do have Johann BOLENDER b. 19 May 1735 in Altenhasslau, Hessan, Germany. I also have a Jacob STIFFLER born the same year in Germany, but I think he immigrated before he was married. I also have an Adam REAM who was probably German and a SAUNDERS line as well. It is no longer possible to ask my grandmother which line she meant.

While I don't have any information on your Schmidts, you may not realize that Kemel became part of Heidenrode over time.

I have a Matthias Buecher living in Kemel during the middle 1700's, whose son Johann Philipp, barrelmaker, master linen weaver, married a woman in the village of Oberems and lived out his days there. I have not pursued the Kemel line yet.

You will find 53 callnumbers of living Appenheimer in Germany.

Looking for anyone with information on the family of Philipp Flath b. c1827 d. March 31, 1905, Höchst im Odenwald, Starkenburg, Hessen, Germany. It is believed that Philipp is my grandfather's biological father. Below is a translation of his death notice. Have attached copy of original.

DEATH NOTICE
God the Almighty in his wisdom chose to call our dear unforgettable father home. Phillip Flath II Business man and Director of the District Savingsbank Association passed away after a long and difficult illness which he suffered with much patience, early this morning at 4.45AM in his 78th year.
We would request observance of quiet sympathy.
Butzbach, Karlsruhe, Hoechst, I.D. the 31st of March 1905.
He is survived by his grieving family

H YA, I have by chance seen a message re: Henry Anthony Draude, your g. grandfather. I am sure you are describing my maternal uncle and, as such, I have much information about our family background. Henry's father, my grandfather, was Charles Draude, who came from Fritzlar, Germany in late 19c. He married Annie Bodtlander, who was Irish German. He was indeed a baker and the couple lived in South London throughout their married life. I can tell you much more if you are still interested.

I have a gggrandfather born (as stated on UK census) in Frankfurt am Maine in 1826. Moved to UK betwen 1841 and 1851 (guessing from census)

That's all I have.

Would appreciate any advice on tracing back in Frankfurt - what archives are available for this date?

Also, has anybody had any luck searching incomming pasenger lists for this period?

I am in search of information about this man - he would be my 4th Great Grandfather. He was married to Maria Barbara Roeder; 1760 - 1789est. They were parents to Johannes Heimrich - born 11/22/1787 in Mernes, Bavaria. He died 12/21/1875, also in Mernes.

Can anyone assist? Later in this tree, my closer relatives came to America and our branch of the tree became known as Hemrich around 1850's.

hello.. my name is T. Hammerstaedt, and my GGGGGrandfather was Wilhelm Hammerstadt, who later changed his name to Hammerstaedt, i know that when the families all arrived between 1860-1881 there were brothers that came over, and then three different spellings were created with the new name. From the stories we were told, in Germany, HEssen, the name was ae, but later changed to a then some went back to the ae spelling once arriving in USA. Do you know wilhelms birthday and death? then we can see if its the same..

I'm the one researching the SCHAMBACH family of Bensheim. Since I posted the original message in 2005 I've found the ancestry of my Georg SCHAMBACH emigrant ancestor back to the late 1500s....mostly with a lot of help!

What LDS film do you have?

You and I have emailed before about the DORN families of Heppenheim and Bensheim. I have some data from LDS films # 0939391 and # 0939392 for DORNs in Bensheim. If you need any of this or the marriages between the SCHAMBACH and DORN families I'll be glad to share.

I have Amos George and William in Pierce City MO shortly thereafter joined by thier sister Annie Eckroyd and her 2 children, Eddie and Ethel. They all died and are buried there. Do you know what happened to Anne and Amos(parents?)
