immigration from Hamburg, Germany

My great grandfather, Conrad Niedermaier, immigrated from Hamburg to New York in 1866. He was 12. He came with his brother John Frederick (14) and father John Martin (53). Conrad and his father eventually ended up in Delaware, Ohio where they live and died. Conrad married Elizabeth Pfirsch in Delaware, OH in 1875. They had ten children. I have no information on John Frederick. Is there anyway I can get information of where they came from in Germany? I have record of the 3 of them coming to America on the ship Bavaria which arrived May 22, 1866. To trace anything I need to know their original origins. I have heard stories that they came from Stuttgart or Wurtemberg but no one can comfirm that. I also believe that a Mary Kolmer (per a 1880 census born abt 1848 and married to Fredrik Kolmer, living in Columbus, OH), may be related.
