Hello JoAnn,

regarding the Hackenbergers - actually I can´t imagine that they came from Hamburg. Most of them were (and are still) living in the very western part of Germany.
I am now living in Hamburg and as far as I know I am the only Hackenberger here.
But as Hamburg is the biggest German harbour maybe thats the reason of some confusions?

Surnames: Anstberry, Hackenberger, Geisler, Giesler, Geissler
Britta, The only ancestors that stated they came from Hamburg, was the Anstberry's. My G-Grandmother's census record said that she came from Hamburg and that her parents came from "Buirn." I am convinced that the spelling of the place her parents came from is not correct, but after trying several pronunciations of the spelling, it is a possibility that they came from "Bayern" ( Bavaria). I am convinced that the surname Anstberry was changed, because I have not found another Anstberrry anywhere.

Caroline Hackenberger's area in Germany is unknown to us. We were just hoping to get a lead on where that might be. Caroline Hackenberger married a man in Germany by the name of Francis Geisler (Giesler or Geissler), so they probably came from the same area in Germany. The only information from the family that I have gotten is that Francis's family was from a small town right by the Polish border.

Surnames: Michael Wohlfahrt
Laura,
Michael and Justina are my great-grandparents. Frederick Wohlfahrt, their oldest child was born April 1, 1891, in Hanau. I have a wonderful picture of Justina taken in Hanau when she was about 17 years old. Their other six children were born in New York, including my grandmother, Frances. I have a lot of information about the family, but am lacking information on living decendants.

Surnames: Lucht
Looking for any data about Great Great Grandparents. They were Carl Heinrich Siegmund Lucht and his wife Johanna Wilhelmine Uhde. They lived in Hamburg, Landpforzte 2H, in 1881. Their daughter Emma Olga Lucht was my Great Grandmother, born there in 1881. I believe Emma had a brother Rudolph Lucht. Emma visted the USA in 1893 and stayed after a 1904 visit.

Thank you
