I have been trying to locate some Bernhofers for several years. Part of my problem is I am not sure of locations - so I am hoping someone can assist in this. A Hans Bernhofer was born in Nurnberg - is that in Bavaria? If so, is that enough information to try and find a birth record for him if I know the year he was born and his parents' names?

The other Bernhofer is Mary or Maria Bernhofer - and she was born in "Brandis bei Leipzig" - which I believe is not in Bavaria. Would this be located in what is called the Saxony area?
