Can anyone tell me what is the best method to find out what town an ancestor from Germany is from? I know the state/province, such as Bavaria and Wuerttemburg, from census records, but finding the town or village is quite a challenge. My understanding is that I need this information to get into record in Germany. In only one instance the town was on the death certificate. Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
