My great grandfather Charles Carstens was born in Hamburg in 1852. He came to the United States in 1872 and lived his life in Lower Manhattan, New York City.
Being ignorant to German history of land and rulers....
My question is if he truly was born in Hamburg who would the King have been in 1852? If his naturalization papers state it was a specific person would that determine where in Germany he was actually from is my question.
