What was his great grandfathers name?

My fathers name is Richard W. Gehrig. His father, my grand father, was Frank Gehrig. His father, my great grandfather, was Valentin or Valentine Gehrig

It turns out the Charles Henry Gehrig Sr. was his great grandfathers name and his grandfathers name was Charles Henry Gehrig Jr. Unfortunately they have not kept very good records so I have not much info to pass on. So any name or dates that you might have could be helpful.

Am also a relative of Lou Gehrig. My gggrandfather was his uncle, a brother to his father. Am looking for positive information about the name of Henry Gehrig's father. Would like to know how you know that Henry's father's name is Philip. Is it from a family bible, birth or death certificate, family beliefs, etc. I have come across other's who claim that Lou's grandfather's name was something entirely different. A relative of mine (second cousin to Lou) actually met him and told my father about it.

Am also related to Lou Gehrig. Would like to see how you are related. I have some gg-uncles whose middle names were Frederick and am wondering if my gggrandfather had a brother whose name was Frederick or his father's name was Frederick. I found info on Lou's father that was discovered by someone who believes they are related to Lou, but I'm not sure they are. Some dates they have about immigration and Henry's birth year don't mesh well. I did find their census and location of residence informative though.

In researching Lou Gehig. I am trying to connedt him to my gggrrandfather. Name being John Adam Gehrig..but my ggrandfaher changed spellng to Gerrick,but I,m stil trying to connect.

To ANNAHERR, I am related to Henry Louis Gehrig, the ballplayer. His father and my gggrandfather were brothers. I have no idea when Lou's father died or what their parents names (Lou's grandparent's) were. When you get his father's death certificate, could you please let me know when and where he was born, as well as his parents names and where and when they were born (if available)? I would greatly appreciate it. There are others who claim to be related but have different names listed for Lou's grandparents (Gehrig side). No one has a copy of his father's death certificate to confirm or deny their claim. You seem to be the first person who has found it. Again, it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide the information previously mentioned. Thank you.

Yes I do have a Death Certificat for Lou Gehrig's Father, whch gives his Parents name of Philip and Sophie.No last name for Sophie. Now these are Lou's Grand-Parents. Both were born in Germany..
I also have Lou's Parents Naturalization papers,which I can make copies and mail to you if you send me your mailing address,plus a copy of the death Certificate.
I have been trying to connect my 2g-grandfather to Lou for years, as he spelt his last name same way, when he came from Germany ( Bavaria)

You may have this; but the Findagrave website has this info - "Born Heinrich Ludwig (Henry Louis) Gehrig in New York City to poor German immigrants, he was the only one of four children to survive to adulthood. Info I've seen shows Lou Gehrig's father came from Adelsheim in Baden, and his grandmother's maiden name was Pfeiffer. I am from the Pfeiffer's of Grosseichholzheim, which used to be called Grosseichholzheim amt Adelsheim (G near A, or a neighboring town to the larger town). I also have Voegels in my family tree. This is all starting to make some sense, perhaps! If you can tell me what you have, I'll see if it weaves into my tree and can then share more with you.
